So we have our coach. The wrestling program is set to start for the 2023-24 season.

I know a lot is uncertain, but for those in the know:
When can we expect to see a few commitments coming our way?
How about some women heading our way next year (like Emma Bruntil) and redshirting (though I doubt many redshirt, do they?)?

I would love to see some senior level (and junior level) women coming to the HWC. With Chun onboard, do you think we get some of the quality senior level women to come?

If the HWC has the budget, Chun will be a huge draw for senior level female athletes to train at the HWC. She's been everywhere and coached alongside just about every single senior women's athlete in the last 4 years. They all know her and she knows them, sky is the limit.

Emma Bruntil has entered the portal and has stated she has interest in Iowa and wants to wrestle for Chun. Emma fits Iowa style really well, I hope she comes in right away and wrestles unattached next season, she is already a 2 time national champ. I hope Emily Shilson shows some interest next, these girls can get after it.

i agree 100 % Emma Bruntil would be a HUGE GET !! she could be a great mentor for a lot of the talented recruits Coach Chun is seeking. If you are going to establish an Iowa Womens wrestling style....she would be a great choice to model after.

Chun could recruit a class of 2022 HS seniors, have them redshirt and compete unattached in 22-23.
Recruit 2023 HS seniors and have them start as true freshmen.
That's two recruiting classes to get started in the 23-24 season plus transfers. There is a really good opportunity to be competitive immediately.

I personally know a world team member (age level discreet) that will enter the portal when available... To be part of an inaugural class of a historic program is a huge draw

Many high level girls are currently looking to come to Iowa. Some are checking about eligibility some have already been told they're good to wrestle.

Congratulations to the University of Iowa athletic department on the hire of Ms. Clarissa Chun. This is a great addition to the athletic department, and will benefit both the women’s wrestling program and the men’s wrestling program. Ms. Chun is well connected with the worldwide wrestling community. Brief story, Henry Cejudo in his book American Victory indicated he had a friendly relationship with Ms. Chun. Perhaps friendly is better described as muy caliente. If one finds the autobiography of an Olympic Gold Medalist credible. The payout, more often than not it is good to have friends in high places.

A terrific hire by the University of Iowa athletic department. Ms. Chun will receive great support from the Hawkeye Community. GO HAWKS!

Completive immediately? Probably depends on how big a splash they want to make immediately (transfer portal). I would expect them to be the favorites the first year they are eligible with a mix of redshirts and veteran transfers. They have every advantage under the sun.

Bring on the Blayldes Sisters...I know Izzy Martinez coaches them and hes close with the program. Would be absolutely amazing!
