I could never watch anything from him for long. Compare that to Rickles, Carson, Letterman, Conan, Seinfeld and many others who each have countless hours of timeless work

I never cared for any of his movies, I was either not born or just a baby when his most popular movies came out and have not watched any of the recent films that got good reviews, so my vote would be yes.

I had not heard his name in a long time so looked at his IMBD, and was surprised to see he has been busy directing films since the Soon-Yi story.
I remember all the excuses made, but there was an undeniable cringe factor, hence my surprise people would continue to support his work.

I think you have to identify with that whole NYC, Jewish upbringing thing to really enjoy his stuff.

He does have his moments though.

I started liking him better after he ran off with his twelve-year-old stepdaughter. He suddenly connected with my own Appalachian roots and became much more likeable.

Yes, overrated IMO. Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters were good but neither crack my top 100 films of all time. Just better than average at best when you consider his entire catalog.

Plus he’s an enormous creep.

He’s sorta the same guy in each movie. A manic-depressive semetic urbanite who dreads his mother.

Annie Hall, I guess, you could say was his magnum opus.

For me personally, the narcissistic pervert he played in Casino Royal (even for a short bit) was a second favorite only to his nihilistic and also perverted role in Sleeper.

Moses Farrow, a family therapist now, speaks in favor of Allen and strongly questions or denies allegations.

Best case scenario Woody Allen groomed his girlfriend’s daughter.

We walked out of Mid Summer Night’s Sex Comedy and I don’t think I ever saw another Woody Allen movie.

His early movies were comic masterpieces. Then he went downhill with his Imar Bergman shit.
these are worth watching IMO -

1966 What's Up, Tiger Lily?
1969 Take the Money and Run
1971 Bananas
1972 Play It Again, Sam
1973 Sleeper
1977 Annie Hall
1986 Hannah and Her Sisters
1989 Crimes and Misdemeanors

I forgot Wild Man Blues. Not really a Woody Allen movie, but a documentary on his dixieland jazz band's European tour. He and his band are actually very good.

This.

He's in that list of directors/actors who I've just never been able to connect with and fully enjoy like some do. Tim Burton is another director like that - I seem to either like or dislike his movies; there's no middle ground.

I thought Match Point was his best movie. And I really enjoy Midnight in Paris.
