... is that Virgina adjusted Tony Bennett's contract with a pay raise and an extension to beyound 2020 which interestingly included a by-out clause of $3 million if he were to leave before 2018. Apparently this all was finallized a couple of months ago - still quite interesting! Timing is everything.

Too bad. Who doesm't want to see a team throw the ball around the perimeter until the shot clock's gone; then launch a three, get the rebound and do it again. Well, at least we have another year to watch it....;-)

Wisconsin had one of the most potent offenses over the last 10-years last year. It was actually quite fun to watch.
To say otherwise is just hating

Wisconsin will not be able to replace Bo Ryan and his
record at Madison. They will hire someone as his next
successor. Bo Ryan was the best basketball coach at
Wisconsin.

In other words, Bennett to Wisconsin isn't going to happen. Barry Alvarez has never shown to want to pay big bucks for a coach and I just don't see him doing that this time around. He'll have plenty of time to find another coach.

Hello, Mr. Obvious.

If they were inclined to promote Bo's assistant I suppose they would have said so by now. Poor Gary Close might be job shopping again. I can't believe he is not a head coach somewhere.

Rumor is. Also Bo may not be done. There is a serious issue on one major recruit, Wisky does not have a plan yet and BA wants Bo to hang out for awhile.
Interesting side note Bo sold his house to football coach.

doesn't surprise me that Close is not a D1 head coach.....course the money that D1 assistants are making..isn't what you call chump change....compared to something less.

Just announced on ESPN radio in Wisconsin this morning Bo may not be done and is open to staying around awhile while the search continues.

Bo's word is good as gold.....until he changes his mind. What does that tell you about him?

Recruiting must be tough right now. Iowa learned the hard way about announcing Tom Davis' forced retirement, an how it hurt recruiting that year. Bo announces he might come back for 4-5 years....duh, we all understand it is a ploy to help recruit this year. No player wants to commit until they know who the coach is going to be. Hope it bites Wisconsin in the arse.

That would be a slimy move if he now says he will be back and then retires anyway.

Yeah assistants stuck in limbo. Can't go looking for other jobs cause they don't know if Old Bo is coming back. He cares about them alright.

It is mainly about one very highly rated recruit who told Wisky he was coming until Bo announced his retirement. Frankly I believe that is part of it with the othe part being the search has not gone exactly how they would like at this point. They want someone outside the program.

I know many guys by the name of Bo and they all seem to make everything about themselves...

I don't know about all guys named Bo, but you got me thinking about what it must be like to deal with Bo Ryan. He just retired, unretired, maybe, for an unlimited time that may or not take place. But like he says, he didn't turn in any paperwork so he didn't technically retire.

Now why he says that unless he's afraid someone will hold him to it, I don't know? So no paperwork, but he retired?

What is Wisconsin supposed to do now? Send someone around every morning to see if Ryan showed up for work? I think Bo might be slipping a little into the "Everybody owes me", Old Guy Syndrome. Worse yet, when he does retire he might still show up now and then and coach as if he never left!

The one year and I'm gone was bad enough. Kind of like Dr. Tom's last year. But as long as thi....wait, it's Wisconsin...OH, I think this is working great! Hang around Bozo, I mean, Bo!

In my opinion it is as much BA as Bo. Head coaching search is not going like they thought it would. I think they had one or two names in mind and found out it was not going to work out now they do not have what they feel is a viable story for recruits and in at least one major case they are in deep sheet.

Btw a real bad scenario that many up here are concerned about is that Bo (and Barry) decides to hang out for awhile.....but still swings and misses because he is not on the hook for 4 years which he does not want to be.... And Wisky has an extended troubled period of recruiting and results. Not saying they tank but they are a long way from simply reloading for the next run to the final four. This will will be Bo's biggest test frankly. He is a great coach but there is a bit of "no man's land" right in front of all of them if they can't land the coach they want. Think about it. I think Bo is one of the toughest guys to follow in the country.

I'll bet he is when he passes gas. Cheese, brats, dairy.........beer.....Wisconsin could solve the energy crisis just by themselves.
