It might just be opinion rather than inside info, but I pray they are right!
How would Gates know what's going on with Iowa Basketball or with McCollum?

Seems like a bad idea to just spit that out if he has some inside info. Otherwise could just be his speculation.
The major openings-sans NC state—have not been filled yet. Other programs, especially WVU and VA, will be pursuing BM. These programs are pursuing coaches still in the tourney. Or else they would have been filled already. You also now have Texas open.

I was never anywhere near as excited for Lickliter as I will be if McCollum comes to Iowa. Judging by how empty Carver was even in Lickliter's first year, a lot of people must have felt the same.
Goetz has gone deep, deep undercover. She may in fact be a secret agent. And she keeps a tight ship. No leaks from the athletic department under penalty of death. Meetings in abandoned warehouses. Doubles taking flights to bogus locations. Notes written on flash paper. Good stuff.

Not . . . even . . . close. Most people didn't know squat about Lickliter--especially Gary Barta. People knew about Butler. What almost no one knew--especially Gary Barta--is that Brad Stevens was the guy behind the Butler success. Barta, as usual, didn't do his due diligence. Not . . . even . . . close. If he had, he'd have hired Stevens.
And when you think about awards in any field, remember this: Todd Lickliter was chosen by the American Basketball Coaches Assoc. as the National Coach of the Year. Those guys didn't know squat either.
Anyone trying to equate the Barta-Lickliter hiring to the current situation needs to buy a clue.
Barta was such a dumbass that he sent out 2 MOUs….one to Stallings and one to Todd and said whoever signed first was hired. Problem is, UI is a public school, so FOIA showed that the offer to Stallings was $200k higher, which I’m sure Todd thought was fantastic.

No, guy who who broadcasts the Missouri games. Blair Kerkoff of Kansas City Star also said it later in the day on 810. I don’t know if it is all speculation but there is a lot of talk in KC
