Would It Be Safe To Label Trump A "Populist"?

He seems to be speaking the same kind of populism that Hitler spoke to...extreme nationalism, hatred of all immigrants coming in and taking jobs, treaties with hostile countries that further strip the country of its power and prestige, hatred for social democrats(liberals) and communists, hatred for anyone who would be viewed as backstabbers and defeatists,...its all pretty much the same thing and it is very clear...and many are buying into his message.

Interesting question by the OP...I am not sure that is the term I would have used, but I think I get where you are coming from. What really annoys me most about Trump is that he almost always avoids any real discussion of how he would do what he proposes or any specifics about his policies.

He seems to master the ability to get a % of the people to identify with him, but there is little meat on the bone then as to how he is specifically going to make things better/different. It's one thing to rile people up, it's another to make things better...and one is far easier than the other.

The appeal of Trump is that he is not a Washington D.C.
politician. He has not sat in the halls of Congress and
made a career out of it. Donald Trump attracts people
who are fed up with the Gridlock in D.C. and the real
lack of leadership in the current Oval Office.

This is also the appeal of Dr. Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.
Both are outsiders to the political spotlight and this is what
makes them attractive.

He isn't a populist. He wouldn't be able to define the term. He's a showman, and he's loving being the center of attention.

no, that's Obama and hitlery. trump is speaking to americans, about making America great again, and he is winning because of it. hitlery should learn from this, but she shall never learn.

Like him or hate him, that's a dumb post. Seriously.
