If it meant NCAA tournament would have games at 25% capacity? Sounds like that’s an option being tossed around right now.

Is it a 4 week delay starting now, or right before the tourney? It certainly would be sweet to have some fans at games, as I'm sure we would have a bunch show up!

Great question I assumed they were going to start it shortly after Christmas.

Lol bro. Do you have any idea how much those tickets would be for the 5,000 that would be available?
Maybe for the final four. I’d consider it for the S16 E8 round. I didn’t go to rose bowl because I didn’t want to spend 3 grand on the trip. Biggest regret ever.

Getting to see the Hawks play live in a raucous environment > Getting to see the Hawks play as many games as possible > Getting to see the Hawks play live in a 25% capacity environment... jmo

Yeah that would make the most sense, as I can't imagine any coaches willing to take a 4 week delay right before the tourney. I'm all for it as I think we'll see things like fan attendance become a reality again in late spring...and by think I guess I really mean hope

I would be for it ONLY if they only allowed vaccinated people to attend. That or definitive proof of immunity. All workers and participants would need the same. Otherwise it would just end up being a superspreader event.

Shit if they did that it should be 100%
I agree, no need to limit it then. That's my point. A reward to us for doing the right thing. It would require a lot of checking that some would certainly not like but this is a safety issue for all.

For 25%. Why? So the NCAA can make a few bucks and continue mismanaging themselves with it?
Agree whole heartedly., not just because of the money, but because a four week period without competition, can destroy chemistry, timing, momentum and can lead to overuse injuries. I would never put my wish to see a game in person over the continuity that team needs to establish to flourish. Seems rather selfish.

No, not sure what four weeks accomplishes. If they think the general public is largely going to be vaccinated this quickly, I don't think that is the case. It is largely going to be health care workers and the most vulnerable in the immediate future. I'd only be in favor if the Hawks hit a skid and can use it as a reset. :)

The experience baby!!
I hear that. I also failed to pull the trigger based on the price tag, and personally, I would have been super pissed off had I dropped a few G's on going to that one. Results of the game, getting our asses handed to use the way they did, would have ruined it for me.

4 week delay accomplishes nothing other than 4 weeks with no basketball. "Experts" have proven time and time again, there is nothing predictable about this thing. Until we eradicate it with vaccinations and natural immunity, the virus is gonna do what viruses do. So no, I would absolutely not be in favor of it.

I think that was their point was it gives time for another significant vaccination barrier to be met.

They should pause the season right after Iowa beats Gonzaga and restart in mid-February with May Madness capping things off. Tens of millions of people will have been vaccinated by April 1. It might even be possible to have some fans with a mid-Feb restart, building to near capacity as the season moves into April and the tourney in May.

A few people, including some coaches, suggested delaying the season until February and having the tourney in May a long time ago. The experts knew stupid Americans would create the mess we have now and that people will only make it worse over the upcoming holidays. So six weeks later, mid-Feb, made sense months ago, and it still makes sense now. IMHO, of course.

Or we can continue to pretend that everything's fine. LOL

No. Keep testing like they’re doing and cancel games as needed. If they want to push the tournament back a few weeks to allow more time for make up games, then that is fine.

I see no reason to stop all basketball for four weeks and fail to see how that would accomplish the stated goal of having fans at the tournaments.

Very few people think things are fine. A good number of people have come to the realization that we can’t do much about the situation, while you pretend to think we can.

That and let everyone get nice and rusty....meaning the best teams are more likely to lise

There aren’t going to be fans at games this year.

Exactly, there's not going to be anything accomplished by stopping for a month.

Once you go along with pretending to do this out of virtue it opens the door to potentially cancel the season the same way we were sold 15 days to slow the spread.

We know guys like Coach K will be lobbying hard to not restart.

Gotta love this attitude. “We’re Americans, why try?” Good grief.

You can’t stop a virus. You pretty much have to let it run it’s course. Lockdowns and other draconian measures only prolong it and result in worse overall consequences.

My Lord, have you not followed what other countries like South Korea and Australia did? You cannot be more wrong.

Playing college basketball (or football) games is not what is causing the virus to spread. Instead, viruses spread naturally until their are too few viable remaining hosts to infect.
