Wow! 3-time NJ high school wrestling champ Anthony Knox barred from tournament over bleacher brawl involving his dad, other fans

Ironbird you may want to watch the VIDEOS posted. The dad DID run across the gym. It appears the Mom SIMPLY went into the bleachers trying to STOP her son. So between the TWOOOOOOOOO of them, it looks like only the dad was a problem. And the son MAY be more like his FATHER, or he may be MORE like his MOTHER. I'm sure Iowa would be HAPPY to have the kid as long as the FATHER isn't TWOOOOOOO much of an issue. Just my TWOOOOOO cents!!!!!!!!!
You rang 🤷🏽‍♂️

He went into the stands and started throwing punches. I haven’t heard of other issues with him, but decisions should have consequences. If I’m Cornell I still accept him with open arms, but think that removing him from the state tournament is justified. Very very few excuses in this world for throwing fists.

I get the "sportsmanship" thing but little Knox went up there to get his Dad's back. Even if Mr. Knox was being an ahole, which seems likely, what else could one expect of a son in this situation? This one isn't on the kid...it's on his old man. Not saying he should be able to wrestle...just saying this isn't the "black mark" on his character that some think it is. Everybody wants to clutch their pearls but if I'm a college coach, I low-key like the display of loyalty and moxie as long as it's a one-off incident.
1) He made a statement to the court that he went to defend his mother.
2) His mother was behind him, and came up the bleachers after that in an attempt to restrain him.
3) Potential perjury aside, he repeatedly punched a 16 year old from another school, who was no where near his dad.

Oh SHEET!!!!!!!!! @IRONBIRD

I can see them reducing his NIL, which may prompt him to hit the portal even if Cornell accepts him. It's Jersey, most assume this type of stuff. :)

Team Knox: You screwed up.

The boo-hoo-they-started-it-racial-slurs-protecting-my-family's-honor excuses are lame.

Own your behavior. Take your punishment like the men you purport to be, learn from it (hopefully), and move forward.
Sorry, but you are off the mark with this and I can easily give you an example. Here in POS NYS, they started a ZERO tolerance policy on fights. I do not know if it spread across the country? Regardless, I was teaching at the time it was being started.

I looked at it and it basically read, you do NOT have a right to DEFEND yourself!!! It also said regardless if you do or do not, if you are involved in a fight. You are suspended!!!

Now I believe you were a wrestler correct? Now say you have a B1G event coming up. Could be HS regionals, sections, or whatever they have in your state. To continue your season, you need to place. Well, some SCUMBAG doesn't like you very much. So on Friday he comes up from behind you while you are sitting at your desk and grabs you. He throws you to the ground and tries to choke you!!!!

What are YOU going to do????? Does not matter, YOU are FINISHED!!!! Your HS season and/or career is OVER!!!!

The POS dept of education is a CORRUPT COCKROACH filled money stealing worthless government run organization!!!

Once again, I was going by what was said. The KID claims he went to defend his MOTHER!!! NO F-ED up HS rule overrides his RIGHT to do what he believes is correct and necessary in that situation!!! THAT is what I am saying!!!! I was NOT at the event, so I do not know the details!!!!

What I am ONLY going by is- The KID is being punished using a HS RULE that some POS people believe comes BEFORE his CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!!!

You may feel he "went to far" or "He did not have to punch anyone" etc...... This is a DIFFERENT argument!!!!

DOES THE KID HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND HIS FAMILY?????? THAT IS THE QUESTION!!!!! You ALL seem to want to be the judge and jury about " How it started" The dad is toxic" "His dad started it" etc.......
Oh SHEET!!!!!!!!! @IRONBIRD
NO SEE ABOVE!!!!
He could have been defending her from racial slurs or from something that was thrown at her. Think outside the box
YES!!!! We do not know what was happening?

There is a question that precedes your question. Was he defending his family? I know he says that, but that does not mean it should be accepted as true.

That is a FAIR POINT!!! However it is NOT what we are talking about. I gave several analogies. "was he defending his family" as he claims? Good question, but we do know his MOM and DAD were involved so...... Should he have punched a kid??? Did he punch a kid??? Did the Dad start it? was there racial slurs? We can go on and ON!!!!!

Right now though we are talking about the kids HS wrestling future ONLY!!! How about this. Were there other HS kids involved? What happens to them? I have to assume that there were more HS kids in those stands, and IF there was? Are they suspended also?

ALL sorts of things can happen. Maybe chargers will be pressed? Maybe they will have to go before a judge? STILL the thing is, does being a HS athlete allow ANYONE to TAKE YOUR RIGHTS AWAY!!!!

We are NOT talking about, NO DRINKING, SMOKING, running bare ass thru the skool etc..... Being held to high standards is OK with me to a point! You want to represent the team and part of that is all the sportsmanship and everything.

This is NOT that, You, me, this kid, and everyone else has a right to defend themselves!!! The POS schools here have taken that right away. I for one told me sons straight out. "If you have to defend yourself, you do whatever you need to!!! I will take care of the rest!!!!"

The KID said, "I went to defend my family" NO ONE can say that is NOT what happened!!! He HAS the right to do that!!! They want to make a case about OTHER STUFF???? then let them try that!

Yes, but there's a time and a bridge for that.
Problem is the people who run their mouth inside a school because they "feel safe" won't ever show up at the bridge. Lots of people think they have a free pass to say whatever they want in certain places because they don't believe there will be any repercussions. Too many big mouths who can't back it up when push comes to shove.

wasn't it Mike Tyson who said " Everyone has a plan , until they get punched in the face "... sometimes I think our society is too soft and a good smack in the snotbubbler is a good way to kick that guys mouth out of gear and into neutral... just my thoughts

No disagreement on that. But it's the guy that throws the first punch that generally ends up down at the police station, hefty fine, and maybe even a night in the county jail. This stuff happens all the time in sports, and dam, once alcohol is available, it can be a real sh*t show. I've never seen anything when back for an Iowa game, but I've seen a lot of it at Chiefs games (Bears games too when I lived in Chicago). Get 12 or more cocktails in a guy that likes to be an idiot.....just a ticking time bomb.

Oh no! It’s 2025 and there’s still kids with balls attached. He saw his old man fighting, went up there and defended his family. Regardless if his dad was wrong or right for fighting, that kid did what he should have. Stop being a bunch of pussies.

As soon as I saw the “dad” in the tank top I knew shit was going to get real… After seeing this clip - I’d hesitate having that family around the program (ie the dad)
