Not arguing with you there. I try to read news from many sites and it would be a bit much to pay them all.
How do you keep up with the daily news? Not hating…
No hate received. If I come across an article I want to read, and it’s paywalled…I either subscribe or move along. I don’t actively seek out a forum where someone posts the entirety of it for free.

I grew up with Napster and Limewire, I cheated people too much as a kid to do it as an adult. Jmo.

People used to subscribe to this thing called a "newspaper" and the newspaper paid the writers and cartoonists.

I still do, but most people don't.

I'm most sad about the cartoonists. "Writers" can still find a way to get paid on the internet, but without the format of the "funny pages" (or even the editorial page) cartoons just don't work well economically. People aren't going to search for their work every day, and most importantly, pay for it. And new talent can only get noticed if a newspaper syndicate picks them up. We're probably witnessing the death of an art form there.

Are we talking about the "dark web"?

Because I've been told on good authority that we're not supposed to talk about the "dark web."

Good stuff Tenn Nole17.
Honestly, my brother produced much free content without fuss for quite a long time for a Rivals site.

Today, he may feel differently.
I mostly read free, but do subscribe for the ones I am most vested in for content.
I respect you for paying for content. Go, guy.

I still find it so weird in that thread, that Torbee (a writer?) encourages sharing paywalled articles under the guise of advertising
You misconstrued what I said.

I said I see no reason to get worked up about copy and pasting some or all of an article when you also include the link - which I always try to do.

This gives the opportunity for a reader to choose whether or not to subscribe to a publication they may not have previousy been exposed to or to determine whether they enjoy a particular writer's work, which they can then follow.

Maybe I misrepresented you from that thread, if so apologies. Was just my interpretation. Your clarification still does not justify sharing paywalled work - to me. Maybe “worked up” is the issue? I’m not worked up, I just think you shouldn’t do it🤷

What do I know, I’m just a consumer of information, not a publisher.
