With Hippenhammer's commitment to PSU, that leaves Oliver as our only offered WR. I really like our current commits but we need more than two. I guess athletes like Yeast or Muse who are offered could play WR. Oliver's commitment becomes more important now.

Heyward from Georgia is coming in for a official. Good versatile player with a good offer list...great guy to start the Georgia pipeline.

Harrell could play wr. Tremendous speed.

If Buckley's coach gets canned, which is a possibility, we could be a factor. Long way to go but we need to get Martin.

Thanks Milbank, didn't know Hayward was still in play. I had thought about Buckley but he's a long shot.

Oliver's commitment has always been important. Vitally important, I will happily welcome the other excellent student-athletes that the staff identifies, recruits and brings into the fold, and each will fill a significant need. But for me, this class is incomplete without Mssrs. Oliver and Van Ginkel. Both will make a lasting mark at Iowa, will end up All Big Ten and will make a mark on Sundays. We have built it. They should come.

Funny how perception changes, when Buckley and Greenwood were in play, nobody talked much about Oliver. Then he blows up on the camp circuit and he'll play on Sundays. A lot of development and hard work to play on Sundays.

I wanted Iowa to offer before they did because he's an Iowa kid. I want Iowa's best to don the black and gold. That said, I can't blame him for waiting on a Stanford offer, great academic institution and the weather is very nice. ND has great academics also but I would never encourage anyone to become a gold domer.

Perhaps you guys should look to Nebraska's committed wr recruits. They may be available given the news about their wr coach getting his 3rd or 4th dui.

That's good news about Heyward. I think in the end Martin is a Hawk. I mean he has KMM and McNutt helping him and is a Hawk fan. The only reason I see him not being a Hawk is if he just wants to get away from home for school. I certainly wouldn't blame him for going some place like ND or Oregon.

If this coach isn't fired it really tells us a lot about Nebraska's priorities. No player with 3 dui's would be allowed to stay on the team so why would it be acceptable to keep the man who is responsible for mentoring these athletes.
I'm torn on whether to fire him or not. He obviously needs help and I don't think firing him provides that but I don't want his name on Nebraskas program. Sticky situation for sure.

The whole "only option is to fire him" crowd is being a little narrow minded I think. Coach Riley is a reasonable man and I have faith he will do the right thing. No matter what it is not everyone is going to agree. Personally I'd suspend him for the year and put some stipulations on him coming back. I.e. Treatment, tests....

I doubt very much Riley will have much say in whatever punishment Williams gets. Why should he? What's he gonna say? "Well he is a heck of a coach and I need him".
Some things are more important than football. My question is why was he even hired with those DUI's on his record?

I think the right thing to do would be to offer him help. Some kind of treatment program. If he does it he can coach if he doesn't he's gone.
I'm sure he had court mandated treatment after his first or second offense and it obviously didn't help. How many more dui's can the guy get before the "right" thing to do is fire him.

It has been dropped to a misdemeanor. Classic Nebraska! We're on our way back baby!!!! Woooo!

I thought I would try to bring this back on topic. I see where Gibbs is visiting the Hawks and several versatile athletes Heyward and Yeast will also visit.

I'm starting to wonder whether Oliver will not be staying in Iowa City.
