Damn that sucks. She was bound for gold. Hope this doesn’t affect her future tho. I think she keeps Welker off the olympic team for as long as she wants.

Not necessarily. She lost match 1 and was losing match 2 when this happened.
The hype around Blades is well deserved, she's awesome. However, Welker also dominated Junior Worlds....I don't think she had any points score against her and she teched or pinned everybody. She also had two quick pins in the trials and controlled both matches against Blades before the injury.
Gotta push back here Chief. Blades shot out of the gate and was 4-0 within the first minute of their 1st match. Blades then hit cruise (maybe Welker's D deserves credit), but I was there and can't remember Blades taking a shot in the 2nd period. Welker is dang good and deserves her own hype train! I am a big Blades fan, but I walked away very impressed by Welker.
I don’t understand really where you’re disagreeing. Other than the quick start to one match by Blades, Welker completely controlled the next 9 minutes they wrestled.
Both women are absolute studs, but I don’t see how anyone could watch this weekend and think that Blades will be controlling that matchup in the future.
I guess we can call it semantics? He said 2 controlled wins. The first match was 4-4, so pending on your definition of control I guess?
Blades scored 4 and then Welker scored 2 off a TD and 2 off a lace 20 seconds after that. Welker had criteria for 4+ minutes and wasn't scored on. The only one close to scoring after that was Welker at the end of the first. Would have liked to have seen more action in the 2nd but Welker controlled center and Blades couldn't get through her head hands.
Blades/Welker was rightfully so the talk of the tourny on the women's side.
But I really feel like the Burkert/Winchester series needs a spotlight put on it! It was everything a wrestling fan could hope for.

Match 2, Winchester was down 5 with a minute to go. Gets a td and turn. Then another td with 10 seconds to go to force match 3.
Match 3, all tied up with a minute to go. Winchester gets a pushout to take the lead. Burkert gets a td in the last 10 seconds to seal the victory.
