Thank you Caleb Shudak and Torey Taylor - two big reasons Iowa is now #2. What a scene at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday night. What a great time to be a Hawkeye fan. Six down & six to go ..... it could be a wild ride Hawk fans, enjoy every minute!

Iowa's success on the football field also showed up in this week's Y/N contest- not a single score below .500 among all 38 entrants. fezzador, KuwaitHawk, Bryzzo, rfgiowa, and MeetTheFerentz all finished 9-1, this week's high score. Petras hooked up with Nico Ragaini for Iowa's longest pass gain to set the Tie-breaker (TB=44)

This week's title belongs to MeetTheFerentz (TB49) who's TB prediction was a few yards better than fezzador (TB52) and rfgiowa (TB52) with KuwaitHawk (TB63) and Bryzzo (TB31) a few more field stripes distant.

Bullseye awards to smalltownhawkfan1 and LBlindHawk for exactly guessing the 44 yard long gainer, a TD no less (and a beauty at that).

We're halfway through the schedule now so its time to see where the diehards stand on the overall scores for all games 1 thru 6.........it looks like a couple of Y/N weekly winners out front early.....

Iowa (5-0, 2-0) vs Penn State (5-0, 2-0)
Series: Penn State leads 17-13
Ferentz vs. Penn State: 9-8
Last Meeting: Iowa 41, Penn State 21 (2020)

I've thought about this #3 vs. #4 match-up and tried to imagine how the outcome of the game might be decided but my mind kept racking memorable game winning kicks at Kinnick Stadium. There was Rob Houghlin's last second FG to defeat #2 Michigan in 1985. You remember Daniel Murray's midfield slide after ruining #3 Penn State in 2008. Then you have Marshall Koehn's walk-off 57 yard bomb vs. Pitt in 2015 and Miguel Recinos' game ending kick to send Nebraska packing in 2018 --all glorious stories you can tell your grandkids that you personaly witnessed at historic Kinnick Stadium.....even if you weren't there.....because what the hell, they won't know any better.

(It would be wrong not to mention Keith Duncan, the All-American Hawkeye PK who preferred to deliver the bitter pill in foreign territory (@Michigan in '16 and @Nebraska in '19 blowing kisses),

I would rather enjoy a comfortable 17-20 point win but my mind won't allow it. Alas, It feels like another classic nail biter Hawk fans. I'll trust Mr. Heineken and Caleb Shudak to see me through it all.

This is out early cuz I got a hellish schedule the rest of the week. Let's get it on.........

Game #1 Winner: Hawktruck
Game #2 Winner: hwk23*
Game #3 Winner: Machawk2489
Game #4 Winner: HawkHeel3
