Yo Chief - your Arizona homeboy just started following Tom Brands

Who is RBY?

He's the guy Iowa fans said was no big that he verballed to PSU because Iowa had Teasdale. He will soon be the guy that made losing Teasdale no big deal because he's going to Iowa.

As I have written on BWI when talking about RBY, I put him right up there with Teasdale. RBY is more Iowa vs Teasdale who is actually looks a lot more OSU than PSU/Iowa with his low singles. Anyways, best of luck to Gavin.

Do I know this board or what?

Both are major talents. Like I said, Wrestling Recruiting is growing up - for better or for worse

RBY.

Wrestling recruiting is getting more like the revenue sports I think with early commits, decommits, etc.

Anyway, I noted the timing of a very subtle tweet from RBY on our board

Agreed! Our kids emulate the culture of professional sports more an more. With the help of the web and social media, the sports culture is ubiquitous. I am a HS coach. My blood boils when I see athletes depart teams, seeking championships. Our kids who are on good teams, committed to the journey, with coaches that care about team success see that. I am sure more is in play than that for GT, I know that kid works hard, we only see part of the story, but the 'I want THAT, I want that championship' mentality is revealed in his decision.

And, he missed the five of the last six? This one pushed him over the edge?

Look over on BWI...I have threads on him informing PSU fans of his results because I'm from Tucson and he wrestles for Sunnyside down here. I was asked about my POV on him (because he is out West and a lot of fans don't know much about him) and I gave it. This was in February...said I was really high on the kid even though he was going to PSU.

So yea...you basically don't know sh*t.

Well...this was a crappy thing to come back to wrestling internet for.

I'd heard rumblings for months about this, but this SUCKS. Gavin is an amazing prospect. Obviously RBY would soften the blow, but I still think Gavin is the better prospect. These early commits...it's time to stop caring. If they don't mean anything to the kids, the shouldn't mean anything to the fans.

Bottom line here is: we don't have RBY involved yet, either. This Twitter follow is a little bit straw-graspy. And besides....it's just another early, non-binding commitment. Same thing with Gavin, to be honest. He hasn't signed anything with Penn State, either. So who knows how this all turns out. Until they sign, it doesn't mean anything.

Remember when folks were freaking out on Twitter after Teasdale removed Iowa from his Twitter? Not saying RBY would come to Iowa but I keep saying it and folks keep dismissing it...what happens on social media with these kids means something however crazy it might seem to us.

I was in on that original Twitter thing. I just think the follow thing is a little graspy. He's also following Tom Ryan. It seems more likely he ends up at Minnesota or Arizona State. Lovelovelover to be wrong.

Could be...although we have schollie money set aside for Teasdale and are a "perfect fit" situation considering our success with lightweights. We'll see.
