We can use existing contract to bring them back, as NASA is currently doing, or we can buy another crewed rocket for 200 million... Elon likes the 200 million option, wonder why.

You could apply some common sense. Let’s say you were the prior administration and you were faced with two choices:
Choice 1: pay an extra $200 million for a launch to bring two people home who were perfectly safe and had gainful work they could do while in space, or
Choice 2: wait a few months and bring them home on an already planned mission.
Pretty sure 100% of the time you are going for choice 2, but for some reason that seems just as likely as choice 1 to you that you could believe it was political in nature. Why is that?
