Couple brought 4 month old baby on boat trip in 120 degree heat.

I’m all for people bringing their young children places but good god have some common sense.

Baby is asleep. Parents partying and glance at "sleeping" baby from time to time. Someone figures out after a few hrs that that's a really long nap. Baby doesn't wake up.
As far as charges...I guess they have to be charged but I'm thinking they're already receiving the worst punishment possible.
i read a story years ago about a couple that took their baby on a x-country skiing jaunt. Had the baby in a backpack carrier and heavily bundled up. At the end of their trip the baby was unresponsive and died. They had it wrapped up as well as they were but failed to take into account that babies lose heat far faster than adults and the child wasn't exerting itself to stay warm. People often don't understand that babies/small children in extreme environments don't react the same as an adult.
Hard to say. Some folks should never be parents. This isn’t Casey Anthony level of neglect. But certainly reminds me of it.
Absolutely. Story was running on the local news here and every time I saw it, I wanted to strangle the parents.

Agree with Bins but I think these people are clueless as to the importance of the life they created and their formerly carefree childless lifestyle was still pretty danged important.

I’ve never been in that part of the country but HGTV ran a series this spring about house hunting on that lake. Lots of “pontoons and buffoons” types drinking lots of adult beverages and exhibiting a higher than average ratio of “s**t for brains”.

There is no fun recreational thing I can think of that would be worth being in 120 degree heat for me.
No clue, especially when you consider that most funeral homes will do children's funerals at cost.
So the cost of the funeral should be relatively low.
I wouldn't say neglect but stupid for sure. Hell, I don't even want to be outside on a boat when it's 100, let alone 120, there is just no way to stay cool unless you are in the water all the time. As for donations, you have to pay for a funeral somehow, it's not like a money grab here.
Just a guess but baby was probably in a life jacket, but even if shaded, probably not properly hydrated (as if there is a way to hydrate a 4Mos old).
I understand the baby is going to need a funeral. It just floors me that so many people would donate to something that should have never happened.
I’d rather see someone with some misfortune like losing a job because a company downsized receive money over a family that should be facing charges for doing something so stupid and selfish.
What’s sad is there are millions of kids in America still alive and living with stupid grownups who aren’t parents. They just got knocked up and dropped a human.
Momma has closed down her Facebook, TikTok and Instagram accounts of her wearing her thong on the boat and facing backwards and turning her head to look at the camera with hands on hips.
No regular funeral costs $50K so I’m thinking these two Parents of the Year will use the majority of the funds for legal beagles who will get them off after tearful testimony. Kleenex included of course.

Not only pontoons, but lots of large cruisers and high-performance boats that IMHO, have no business being on the lake. While the lake is many miles long, it has lots of bends while being very narrow. You wouldn't believe how often people hit docks or run aground on a bend. Alcohol ain't helping either. If we do anything on the lake, whether it be wave runners or a small-ish boat, it's before 9 am during the summer. Luckily, wifey, her folks and all siblings and cousins are very experienced water people. Most aren't.
I will never forget the time I was down there about 20 years ago for a bachelor party. My first time at the lake, 15 guys on a pontoon and the guy driving had no clue what he was doing. We are on the main channel and next thing I know, we are in the wake of a cruiser and the front half of the boat is under water. Luckily, someone else took over the controls and got us out of it. From then on, if I was on a boat on that lake, I made sure the guy driving knew what the fugg he was doing.
It's major fugg around and find out territory.

That was the aunt. Must of reached their amount for a new boat.
Bad joke by me but a child was lost because of selfish and ignorant parents who had to party on the lake. Their oldest child may lose her parents too.
The father is a detective. Baby was left on the boat while they went swimming, did not say how long.
JFC, always want to give benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately sounds as if they’re a bunch of selfish bastards. Honestly you either find a sitter or you don’t get to do fun things anymore.
