Meh. He's self absorbed like most politicians and Hollywood types, but give him credit for his humanitarian work. He doesn't just cut checked or give speeches at awards shows, he has spent a lot of time in Louisiana and Haiti helping with disaster recovery.

There probably is more of a method to their madness than people sometimes realize. But that doesn't change the fact that the Sinaloa Cartel is ruthless when they decide to be. When someone crosses them, their head often washes up on a beach while police find the rest of their body in the trunk of a burned out car.

Mexican authorities have said that El Chapo's meeting with Penn and Mexican actress Kate del Castillo was "essential" to them tracking down the notorious drug lord. And this afternoon comes word that del Castillo has been called to give testimony about Chapo. If I was Penn or del Castillo I'd be sleeping with one eye open.

Del Castillo is a hot little piece of ass, but hot little pieces of ass are replaceable when you're a billionaire drug kingpin.

Being ruthless doesn't mean El Chapo and his cartel are stupid. Right now Penn is potentially of value to El Chapo if he stays alive.....if Penn dies he could become a potential liability.

Right now what El Chapo wants is the best possible outcome for himself either be it in a situation where he might be able to arrange another escape or a permanent situation where he isn't stuck in a hole to spend his life with no privileges...nothing. If Penn suddenly gets a case of the deads that just reinforces the thought of El Chapo's power even from behind bars and may cause him all kids of grief in where he ends up and what kind of a life he may have when he gets there. It would have nothing to with sympathy for Penn and would have more to do with the safety of the people involved in his legal proceedings. If Penn suddenly ends up dead El Chapo might just find himself suddenly disappearing into a hole facing a fate worse than death.

Wouldn't be surprised if for the time being El Chapo has put the word out that nothing happens to either celebrity YET.......but once El Chapo's final fate is determined at some future date that could change.

If the Mexican government can keep him behind bars this time - and that's a very tenuous if - Sean Penn's and Kate del Castillo's fate will have little or no impact on El Chapo's fate. The case against Shorty is a mountain. He has tortured and murdered thousands of people. This is a guy who has people lowered into vats of acid. He has people decapitated. He has been responsible for the deaths of countless police and military personnel. A couple of actors more or less isn't going to make much difference when it comes time to sentence him.

Spot on. This was all about Penn and his lack of being able to project a credible reason why he needed to meet with El Chapo is the proof.

Personally I could care less what happens to Penn and del Castillo. As for El Chapo? Maybe he should have another escape attempt but this time is killed in the process. That might not mean a good ending for the 2 celebrities but as I've already said...I could care less about them.
