I’ve been to a few this past year. Have you been to any that you would recommend?

Red Rocks to see a Beatles cover band. 10/10 if including the location.

Queen CB in Chicago 10/10

The Doors in Dubuque. Not a huge fan but the singer made it 8/10 for me.

ABBA in Ames. Went with the no pics. 4/10

Dave Matthews in Des Moines. Went with a huge fan, I not a fan. 2/10 for me. Sometimes you do things for friends

This Must Be the Band - Talking Heads cover band

So freaking good. Had seen them multiple times in Chicago, QC and IC. They don't play anymore but will randomly do a benefit concert every few years

There's also a Talking Heads cover band in the QC named Heads in Motion that's good and plays quite often. The lead singer also does a Cake cover band which is excellent. Not sure if he's still doing that one or not.

Had a great time watching a Petty cover band on Daytona Beach this past 4th of July. They were at a bat near the pier, and timed things so they ripped into American Girl right as the fireworks show started.

Hairball. But I don’t go to see tribute bands often at all. And the only time I’ve seen Hairball was on RAGBRAI. And let’s be honest, I don’t remember the show very well.
Yeah they suck sober 😆 Decided on whim last month to see them and the Pork Tornadoes in Coralville ended up leaving early. Had seen Hairball in Tiffin before and it was a blast. If the Pork Tornadoes were the closer instead of Hairball then would've stayed until end.

I saw an all female KISS cover band named Slutter one time, I didn't expect to see anything top the midget KISS cover band called Mini-KISS

We watched a great Bob Segar CB one afternoon at a ski area north of Park City several years ago. They cranked it, but it was balls hot that day and the beer/food stands were demoralizing.

I saw them in Chariton on RAGBRAI one year. Enjoyed it.

Metallica cover band, BatterY I think, small venue, they rocked it. I’ve heard there are better Tallica cover bands.

I see the Ultimate Doors or whatever they're called is in Omaha on the 25th. I wish I would have seen it earlier. I would have liked to go. Looks like a good show.

Tribute bands. Not cover bands.

While I said it was a cover band, it was Petty USA, a tribute band that played nothing but TP&tHB tunes, and played them damn well.

Trad, you'd probably know the place...The Ocean Deck. Highly recommend for anyone who ends up in Daytona. Great beach bar, with a stage indoors and another out on the beach. On weekends they typically have an acoustic show late afternoon, then an outside show for a couple of hours, then back inside with a dance-music band.

step brothers wtf GIF

It was amazing but they strictly performed 80s Billy Joel. The lead singer freaked out.

Abba cover band was great in Atlanta. All the hits, done note for note perfect. Granted, I am a fan of the original band, so I'll turn in my man card now.

A childhood friend plays in a Cars tribute band in California; I've seen some videos & they are pretty good.

In Tampa there's a Dead tribute band that has played pretty much every Thursday night for 25ish years. They're still playing the same song that they started one Thursday night in 1998; next Thilursday they just pick up.where they left off.

7th Heaven out of Chicago multiple times for a work events that play like 30 seconds to a minute of all popular songs through the years. Pretty good show for a couple hours.

The Posse in Effect is a Beastie Boys cover band that I have seen twice. They are really good.

I can verify both are very good. Saw Heads in Motion in CR. I’ve seen a good Nirvana one and The Beatles 1964 as well.

I’ve only been to two. An ABBA karaoke band that was terrible. But there was a Billy Joel guy and an Elton John guy who got together for a few nights and put on a spectacular show - both were really terrific on the piano, lots of energy and showmanship.
