Not only is it NYC during the cold of winter and the expensive NYC hotels, no one will want to drive and flights aren’t cheap, plus Boston College? I would hate to be the athletic department from Iowa trying to sell tickets to this one..

Are you driving or taking a plane? Let us know your departure time and date.

Too funny I thought the same thing about the OP but it's going to be difficult for him being at the ISU bowl game and he will likely be mourning the loss of his brother over the holidays.

Hotel on Hotwire for NYC Dec 26-28, 4.5 star in Times Square for $169.

Hotel on Hotwire for Nashville for Dec. 28-30 for a four star $287.

I again ask, where the hell are you guys staying in NYC?! Are you just taken for a ride cause your easily identified as tourists?

New York City is not cheap but it's not as expensive as some people try to make it out to be. Many are trying to mask their fear of big bad New York City. By making up stories of how expensive hotel rooms are by gross exaggerations. Then adding just how bitterly cold it's going to be.

I will for sure so I can pop you right in the nose when I see you
Your attitude surprises me for someone 45 yrs old who recently lost a 30 yr old brother and posted about it, has a 31 year old son, hasn't missed an Iowa game in 46 years, travels to canoe for some games, seems strangely negative for such a big fan BUT I just cannot figure out why things don't add up about you....

Wow

Not following you ..you just say HERE I AM! Just not buying what you're selling!

Giant disappointment...again for a bowl game.

Almost everyone I know were going to make the trip to Nashville. I dont know a single person going to NYC.

The Pinstripe Bowl was an idea put out by the New
York Yankee organization to showcase Yankee Stadium.
The first year attendance was 47,000 and last year it
was 37,000. This will be the 5th year as it continues
to decline in attendance. Folks are not looking for
New York City as a winter vacation destination.

I'll be surprised if New York City in December attracts a lot of Iowa fans,... Hope it's a good win for the Hawks but I won't be there....

Wife and I would go in a heartbeat if we didn’t have 2 young kids. NY is beautiful during the holidays plus enjoying great food and night life with a few college friends who still live in the city. The game itself would be way down the list. Heck, I could see us deciding to skip it entirely if it was a nasty day and/or we were too hungover.

Guess my point is, there’s just as much motivation if not more to make this trip than another dime-a-dozen FL bowl we’ve been to how many freaking times the past 15 years.

I'm trying really hard to rationalize the reactions on here as something other than this, but I keep coming back to this conclusion. I don't care what month of the year it is, there's never a time when Nashville is more attractive than NYC

Everybody threw a tantrum when the Stanford band made fun of Iowans with that farmers only skit........but this reaction justifies it

I'm guessing many of the Hawk fans in attendance will be from alumni living out that direction ... Thus far, none of my Hawk friends in the Des Moines area say they are making the trek ... 7-5 Iowa vs 7-5 Boston College ... I would say Iowa earned its bowl destination and opponent... Losing at home to Purdue was simply inexcusable ...
