Zags are good... give them credit

I think it's funny the Gonzaga fan who has also watched Iowa allot last year says both teams would likely split 10 games and the Iowa fans that have seen Gonzaga play once are all disagreeing with him.

Granted he's being a bit gracious but they don't normally shoot that crazy from three and Iowa does not normally miss that many layups. I'd say it would be more like a 6/4 or 7/3 spilt in their favor.

Few had Iowa scouted perfectly and they killed us on pick and roll because of the ridiculously aggressive way we try to hedge on screens. Half the time they didn't even have to set a pick, they just took a couple steps in that direction and our bigs were lunging out on the perimeter to nowhere as their bigs were slipping into the lane for dunks.

I would hope given a chance Fran would change up that strategy.

Wiltjer did not impress me, he has a big mouth and plays soft. Waste of talent and will never make the NBA because of his poor defense. I'm sure that's why he's not playing for Kentucky anymore.
Even though Pangos loves Steve Nash his game isn't remotely similar. Nash is a much quicker guard and drives to the rim alot more and either makes a layup or finds the open man for a dunk.
I give your team credit they play well within the system and when no one is guarding them. I think they get past UCLA but no way will you get past Duke. Your team doesn't play well when you have someone guarding you body on body. Your bigs will be in foul trouble because Duke's guards are way to quick

You have a good coach, and get some good players but your team needs to get into a better conference where you're competing against bigger and better players night in and night out. That is the only way you can make a Final Four going forward.
This is a ridiculous assessment, they are a very talented team.

Yes they aren't extremely quick or fast but they are extremely skilled offensively.

Ive watched them allot this year, Karnowski is actually very skilled in the post, he's got excellent post moves and passing. Yes he travels a few times but that's because , Woodbury, even though hawk fans are too stupid to realize it, is actually a very good post defender.

Our pick n roll defense was horrible. It was as bad as "team USA" a few years ago in the world games when they got beat by Spain or whoever it was. Looked like they hadn't faced a pick n roll their entire life and got burnt by it.

I agree they are the better team and they proved it. Iowa just seems to always crap the bed in big games. I cannot for the life me remember when they won a "big" game. Yes I get we have beaten some good teams on the road or at home in the regular season. But I'm talking about post-season games and tournaments. Just seems like we get into a favorable match-up and get exploited every time and most of the time it is poor defense or poor shooting that kills us. In Zag game it was both!

Our shooting wasn't bad except missing layups. We should have been driving to the hoop and picking up fouls in the first half. They would have been in foul trouble which plays into our hands.
Getting their bigs into foul trouble would have been the end of them.

Gonzaga played well but we didn't challenge them properly. I wouldn't be surprised if they get beat by UCLA.

Gonzaga probably played one of its best games of the year and we played average I would say. The result is what you saw. Anytime a team shoots that well you aren't going to win.
