I would argue that Eirman did not get better at Iowa. He looked like the exact same wrestler he was at MU. His finish was higher, but he didn't look to be any better. He always had finalist potential.
His overall style and technique really did not change, but his mental aspect, conditioning and a lot of little things he did getting prepared and, on the mat, did improve.

Seriously? Do you think you are going to just do a complete overhaul of a guy that already had 4 years in another room? You think that is even a possibility?

Now, what they can do is refine him. Which is exactly what they did. Eierman was clearly in better shape, prior to his devastating injury, and his confidence and in match strategy was nearly flawless.

Regardless of what many on here think, there are times where you absolutely can see a game plan/strategy in place and it was very evident with Eierman. The problem was always going to be Lee in neutral. If Eierman couldn't get a takedown, you KNEW Lee wasn't choosing down. No coaching was going to remotely level that part of the playing field. If Eierman couldn't get his slide by to work, he was going to have a very hard time winning that match and it still went to OT for him to lose to a pretty damn good opponent...

Didn’t he beat Lee in big ten finals that year also?
