Iowans - what do you plant in your home gardens?

This coming spring we are going to start a garden. We have a pretty good sized area if we wanted to use it all. Probably 30 feet long. Could be as deep as 10 feet, but to start we will probably keep it to a single or double planting row, so maybe 6 feet or so. This particular area had the typical awesome Iowa soil unintentionally stripped out as casualty of war from a previous project in the back yard, and it struggles with having plush thick grass grow. We will need to add fertilizer and such. It also gets a ton of direct sunlight. I know we will do tomatoes. I would like to grow peppers but we have tried to grow them in the past with little success. I like the idea of zucchini. What do you guys plant? Do you use planters or beds, or just plant directly in the ground?

Time To Get a Transfer QB

Former 4 star Devin Brown has announced he is leaving Ohio State. I expect them to lose former 5 star Air Noland as well. Both guys have rockets and are mobile. Plus say what you want about Ryan Day, but guys like Joe Burrow, Quinn Ewers and Kyle McCord have worked out pretty well after leaving his system.

Will Ferentz or more importantly the donors put up money to get a high end talent at QB? No and yes. The donors would likely do it if Ferentz green lit it. I doubt Ferentz wants a guy that he may deem "high profile" risk takers.

EDIT: Profs. Drew Weissman and Katalin Kariko win Nobel Prize for discovering how process to make Covid 19 vaccines type vaccines

Prof Weissman started his research on mRNA type vaccines in 2005 or 15 years before Covid 19 hit. Kariko soon joined him with her expertise. And even to know how to do this procedure needed the amazing Human Genome Project and genetic sequencing to be perfected.

All these other people at Pfizer and Moderna got the glory and the money but I just wanted to show who really did it.

Holocaust educator Dr. Henri Borlant, the only survivor of 6000 French children sent to Auschwitz, has passed away at age 98.

Borlant's family was originally from Ukraine and settled in France, only to be marginalized and discriminated against there. After the start of WW2 Henri, his father, one brother, and one sister were arrested and sent to Auschwitz. His mother and seven siblings remained in France and survived the war while in serving in the French Resistance. After the war he studied to be a MD and started a career, and in later years spoke tirelessly about his time in Auschwitz, and what ever present hunger and terror.

Kudos to Adam, Ross and Eliot…

Hey Guys, I just want to say how much of an amazing job you do and content you guys provide. The articles, coverage, inside scoop is very appreciated!

I have been a member since the Jon Miller days. So I have seen some changes here. I didn’t know what to expect when Tom and Blair left. I said I’ll give it a chance. Thank you for exceeding my expectations!!!

With the year coming to an end I hope you can take a moment and look back at the great things you’ve done with the site. Keep up the great work!!!

@Eliot do you ever sleep😀🤣

Roster building, team chemistry and NIL

A common opinion in the transfer portal threads is that Iowa should throw a large sum of money at a top QB transfer.

This seems like an easy answer. However much like City Boyz changed KF's opinion on recruiting after his top 10 recruiting class in 2003(?), I think Cade and Kaleb Brown will really shape which transfers the Hawkeyes bring in via the portal.

Big money comes with big ego and bringing in players like that to a team without top NIL resources will likely affect team unity. I don't think we will see any high profile guys transfer to Iowa, and I honestly think it's a smart move by the coaching staff.
