Constitutional carry, also known as permitless or unrestricted carry, allows individuals to legally carry a handgun, openly or concealed, without needing a permit. This typically does not apply to long guns. Every state in the U.S. permits the carrying of concealed handguns, but each has its own specific regulations and restrictions governing the practice. The laws regarding the issuance of permits to carry concealed weapons fall into three categories:

These categories define the level of regulation around carrying concealed weapons across different states.

In the United States, the rules around constitutional carry—meaning the right to carry a handgun in public without a permit—vary by state, with each state’s legislature setting its own laws on the matter. Some states require a permit for carrying handguns publicly, while others do not.

Still don't own a firearm. I'm definitely an outlier in the panhandle.

When the zombie apocalypse comes I'm screwed.

Iowa only has gun rate of 17 per 1,000 residents?

That’s pathetically low. We need to be better.

Open carry is dumb IMO. I've been carrying a fair amount lately, anyone have a good inside the waistband other than Galco?
And honestly, I'm not a fan of constitutional carry either. I don't think it's too much to ask to require that someone take a basic safety training course and go through the background check to get a concealed carry permit.

You do you but if shtf anyone worth their salt is going to make you primary #1.
Disagree. 99.9% of the gutless garbage in this world, will step aside if they see you strapped. For the other .1%, do you really want to be digging in your pants for your piece when his is stuck in your face?

You can see why gun manufacturers and the NRA concentrate on Red States.

$$$ well spent for those entities.
