Strategy. Because we’ve gotten so much money in this thing, each share is essentially 1%. So we need to try to hit $20,000 to get 10/1 odds. Crazy to say. So the tickets have been structured to allow us to have two bombs on the board to achieve our goal.
This is a $2 Trifecta Power Box. We will need the 14 anywhere in the Tri along with one of the numbers in the second row anywhere in the Tri. The third row is ALL, so we just want a bomb to come in.
This is a Straight Superfecta. The horses shown in each row must finish in that spot. So we need the 14 or 17 to win. The 3,11,14,17, or 22 to come in 2nd. I used ALL in third that way if we hit the bomb there we also probably hit the Tri and it maximizes our winnings. Then one of the last group needs to finish 4th.
I had $100 left so I decided to get us into the action early. The race before the Derby will be on so I played a $100 Daily Double 5 (Up to the Mark) with 17 Derma Sotogake in the Derby. I’m guessing this would pay $4000 or so and double our money if nothing else.

I used to do a lot of watching up at Canterbury during law school. There are some really good horses and good jockeys up there. It was always fun listening Paul Allen call the races.

Yep. It’s fun and PA still does the races. The purses were bigger the last few years as they partnered with Mystic. Think that expired end of last year; so, not sure if things will be different this year or if they signed another. The partnership had something to do with Canterbury given up its fight to have slot machines and other non-table games. Indian casinos have the monopoly here on those
