I think it's a great hire. After he got out of school, he played a few years in Europe before starting his NBA coaching career. He started at the bottom and has worked his way up. You don't do that if you don't know what you're doing.
Leonard is a big picture guy. I appreciate the years he devoted to the FSU program, the Tallahassee community, and most importantly his players and their families.

That is an elite crowd and what Ham did at a “non basketball” school elevates the accomplishment many fold. FSU basketball was far from the earlier glory days of Hugh Durham and the 1972 championship throw down with UCLA and the Dave Cowens led teams.
He not only turned the record around, he turned around academics and brought facilities into the modern game.
His biggest legacy is the graduation % of players there for four years. It is off the charts.
