Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird
BY WALLACE STEVENS
I
Among twenty snowy mountains,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the blackbird.
II
I was of three minds,
Like a tree
In which there are three blackbirds.
III
The blackbird whirled in the autumn winds.
It was a small part of the pantomime.
IV
A man and a woman
Are one.
A man and a woman and a blackbird
Are one.
V
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.
VI
Icicles filled the long window
With barbaric glass.
The shadow of the blackbird
Crossed it, to and fro.
The mood
Traced in the shadow
An indecipherable cause.
VII
O thin men of Haddam,
Why do you imagine golden birds?
Do you not see how the blackbird
Walks around the feet
Of the women about you?
VIII
I know noble accents
And lucid, inescapable rhythms;
But I know, too,
That the blackbird is involved
In what I know.
IX
When the blackbird flew out of sight,
It marked the edge
Of one of many circles.
X
At the sight of blackbirds
Flying in a green light,
Even the bawds of euphony
Would cry out sharply.
XI
He rode over Connecticut
In a glass coach.
Once, a fear pierced him,
In that he mistook
The shadow of his equipage
For blackbirds.
XII
The river is moving.
The blackbird must be flying.
XIII
It was evening all afternoon.
It was snowing
And it was going to snow.
The blackbird sat
In the cedar-limbs.

2. Don't just cherrypick stanzas from poetry. Post it all or post nothing.
Wallace Stevens was an executive at Hartford Indemnity for 30+ years and wore a suit to the office. His hair was not long. He did not smoke dope.I was hoping for cool shots of an SR-71.
Piss on your long haired doper crap.

I can't stop looking at this wonderful photo. What in incredible aircraft.
No SR-71 but the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola is also awesome. It does involve going to Florida but only a little.I can't stop looking at this wonderful photo. What in incredible aircraft.
I have seen one hanging the SAC Museum at Omaha. It was shockingly small.
For those who have not seen the air museum at Omaha, I highly recommend it. We had a great time there.
Perhaps you like way number 5 better:
Been there, worth a visit for sure. Lots of planes to see up close. No SR-71 but the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola is also awesome. It does involve going to Florida but only a little.
This is the pic @Wendy79 posted. For some reason it's confusing me. It looks bigger. The reflection gives it a gold hue. It's a great pic, but the front plane in the pic @tarheelbybirth posted enables you to see the airflow lines.
As I stated earlier, the plane with saw in Omaha was shockingly small.
I saw that episode.Damn, I Googled it and they really are smaller than you think.

Here butt munch...………..
The SR-71 is a large aircraft that can be compared respectfully to the size of a Boeing 727. The SR-71 is approximately 103.876 feet excluding the nose probe, which is four feet, eleven inches. The wingspan of the airplane is 55.62 feet and the height is 18.5 feet.
LOL, I was actually trying to get a picture of the scale next to a person, all I got was scale model. This is all I have for reference.
This looks more line the plane Clint Eastwood stoke in Firefox. Think Russian, must think in Russian.LOL, I was actually trying to get a picture of the scale next to a person, all I got was scale model. This is all I have for reference.

It does rhyme in French, its original language. That's not poetry - it doesn't rhyme.
