14th Amendment Section 3 - Jefferson Davis Can't Run for Pres & Neither Can Trump

There has been a noticeable increase in pushback from some Republicans towards a Trump Presidency. I'd like to hope that the recent campaigning on creating concentration camps, using the justice department to go after Democrats and liberals, mining social medias for "negative opinions towards him", and going after media/journalists they didn't like is what has caused more of them to start speaking up. But if that were the case, then they should have started speaking up 7 years ago. It's more likely that the simple truth is Trump is the candidate that is most likely to lose to Biden next year and they want someone who will have a better shot at winning.

Not really, I don't have time to read this specific article but I have listened to discussions of this topic and if I'm understanding it correctly Minnesota is just saying that until he is actually convicted of something then the 14th amendment can't be applied. I don't really have a position on it but on the surface I tend to be somewhat in agreement with that as that should be part of whatever consequences he faces for those crimes. Like, invoking the 14th amendment should be part of his sentence. Unfortunately that will likely come too late to prevent his candidacy next year.

I tend to agree with the court, we don't convict or sentence in the court of public opinion... it's done in a court of law. If/when Trump is found guilty of charges that would disqualify him for running for or being elected as president then this should happen in every state... until that time though he's still eligible.

Minnesota already threw one of these same lawsuit attempts out of court immediately. If dems focused on doing their actual jobs half as much as they do on trump they might not fvck up so fantastically 24/7

They probably would focus more on their job if their GOP counterparts weren't infighting over leadership, embarrassing themselves so much with fake investigations that have no legitimate proof behind them or holding up military promotions (they caved on that one, so a win for the military).

If you're claim is there is no evidence of joe biden being corrupt then I'd argue that you're in a cult because the evidence is overwhelming and obvious.

If you're claim is there is no evidence of joe biden being corrupt then I'd argue that you're in a cult because the "evidence" is overwhelming conspiracy theory and obvious disproven.

But here is your chance to telll me what's the smoking gun then? Biden wasn't even VP at the time a lot of the alleged corruption took place so there was nothing to be gained from somone not in power. But go ahead, I can't wait to see what you present as your proof. But really I expect deflection and more name calling because you have none. Your answer will be telling.

14th ammendment specifically doesn't include the office of the presidency. Activist court lol
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

It's very upsetting to me that we can "judge shop" issues as important as this.

It's like women having different rights depending on what state they're in.

It's not just democracy that's under attack, it's the Union itself.

Americans used to care about such things. Now, not so much.

This is dumb and will help Trump if they’re allowed to keep him off the ballot. He has zero chance of winning Colorado, but voters in actual swing states will be turned off by this.

I completely disagree he shouldn't qualify at all to be a candidate but yes the moron cult will rally.
what happens if it goes to supreme court and 5 person majority rules he shouldn't be allowed to run. What happens in purple states, you start removing swing states as possibilities, which Colorado is, and good luck.

Then get a candidate to beat him with issues. Until then, he will continue to poll well. Dem policies are horrible right now and the people don't like them. Until the Dems fix this, people like Trump will keep popping up. You can't keep them all off the ballots.

You mean republicans can't come up with a normal candidate and its all the democrats fault . . . did you really just say that?

There are plenty of Republican candidates running.

The past 8 years all the Dems have come up with is a socialist Doc from back to the future, an unlikable woman candidate and a 50-year career politician who has dementia.

I think Michael Moore hit upon the most apt analogy. Trump is a human hand grenade people want to throw into a corrupt system, to the eternal chagrin of the people running the corrupt system.
A lot of people don’t want to choose from Kang or Kodos.

Coups should have consequences. Coddling Trump, and repeatedly letting him have his bottle to shut up his wailing is how we got into this problem.

The constitutional language doesn't keep him from running, but it could keep him from serving.

What happens when Trump wins, but when the SC results get to Congress to be ratified he isn't accepted? Did 1/6 make it impossible for his election to be blocked?

Or when it's time to swear him in, Roberts refuses to administer the oath. Which he should do since the constitution is clear that an insurrectionist can't hold federal office.

Well Trump argued Pence had all the power to decide which electors to count. So therefore Kamala now has all the power. Just following the rules Trump argued for.

Yeah, but the Dems argued that Pence did not have that power, and then some law was passed to tighten that up. Or didn't that law pass?

Either way, Dems have backed themselves into a corner such that if Trump steals the election, they can't do anything about it.

By claiming the Dems stole it, Trump and the Rs have basically made it easier for them to steal it. Again.

Not "Drain the Swamp" shit again?!?! The only thing I agree with is your comparison to Trump as a cartoon alien. He's much more apt for that than POTUS
