People make fun of the so-called “blue hairs”……but they are the ones who stick by the team and go to the games in good times AND bad. Not like the fair weather Keyboard Warriors.
Is this for real? If it is, it's just plain embarrassing, IMHO. A few years ago, beer was banned at college sports venues. Now, like gambling, beer is everywhere and is being exploited as an inducement to please, please come to the game. And how many times have Greek houses been suspended and otherwise penalized for promoting dangerous drinking games? And now the athletic department is doing it?
Will there by pole dancers at halftime too? Asking for a friend--no, just an acquaintance, actually . . .
So this is where Iowa men's basketball is . . . a level below the basement. Gotta do better than this, Beth, waaaaaaaaaaaay better.
Exactly. So fire the coach and put a team on the floor that students--and others--are willing to pay to see, don't create the potential for a drunken fiasco. But again, just my view.
You can have fun promotions that don’t involve alcohol. Running a beer incentive is an act of desperation.
Be kind of cool if some rich alumni agreed to buy a couple thousand beers to kick it off.

Come on man … pink, blue, red, yellow hair … Take your blinders off man! Even my 86 year old father (who attended Iowa in the 50s) and is as die hard as they come … said it’s time to blow this shit up… and bring in a new coach … The good in all of this — is 80+ percent of the fan base is smart enough to admit Fran is an average coach and it’s time to scoot him out the door (which it will at the end of the year)… Accepting mediocrity and watching the same movie 100 times in a row … and being okay with that … yikes … 😬
I don’t disagree with this—seems bottom of the barrel desperate to me. Maybe all the area strippers were busy tonight.
Since we're getting closer to St. Patty's Day, every student gets a green or yellow pom-pom with a beer purchase...and it's green beer!
I don’t disagree with what you are saying. I was merely addressing the derision many fans have towards the older age fans….and I was pointing out they buy season tickets and attend games thru good times and bad. Had nothing to do with whether they are happy with Fran or not (and I don’t think they are).
The only time I ever had BB season tickets was Fran’s first year. Sat next to a woman in her 80’s who had the same seats (4 I believe…..her husband had passed away but she still kept getting them for family and friends) since Carver opened, and season tickets going back many years before that in the Field House. She was one of the most knowledgeable, passionate, and VOCAL fans I ever met.
Do kids even drink beers anymore? I thought they just vaped and occasionally dipped into the the Fentanyl……
And why wait this late in the season to try something different?

I imagine there are slick spots from spills. What concerns me is that ice cream and beer don't mix.
