2 of 3 BTN analysts pick Nebraska to win

Nebraska is trying to finish the season at 6-6. There is
a reason they have won only 5 games. They have been
inconsistent all year. Coach Riley has not made an impact
on his players. They will lose to Iowa.

Just think if the refs make the right call, nebby is not bowl eligible, even with a win against us. That's truly pathetic!!! What's even more sad is that they are only a 2 point dog. I think Vegas is just trying to make a buck is all.
Iowa will be ready to play. May take them a few downs to get it rolling tho.
This is one of those ref. Conspiracy games. A ref could get a good payout for a crappy call or two.
What was the line with the nebby - sparty game? Would be interesting to see that.
Hmmm...what was the line against northwestern and us? Lol..ugh.... anything can happen.
STILL....nobody believes in us!!

They've called literally every game we've had since Northwestern a "trap" game.
Since every team we've played since then has a losing record that's the only thing you can call them.

Was listening to the Vegas guy on 1600 am The GYM Class and he said even though the line has moved toward Nebraska this week, 78% of the bets have come in on Iowa. So, the big bets have come in on Nebby but the general public is buying the Hawks.

I guess I disagree that playing for a chance to win the national championship isn't as much to play for as becoming bowl eligible.

With a schedule as easy as ours, every game this year has been a trap game standing in the way of the B1G Championship.

Here's to hoping the guys are smarter than our fans and take this one seriously!

Lawn Boy, your theories are similar to mine but you come off as more of a jerk. You can make a point without being like that, you know that, right?!
Also, going undefeated even with lower caliber big 10 teams is tough. Don't fear getting it handed to us one of these games....just pull for your team and try not to be an asshat

I'm concerned about the game too, but honestly, I see us winning, and winning big. I think Kirk is going to run the score up on the Huskers, and remind everyone who the more dominant program is this year.

Let's hold up here. Discuss the pic more!

We've seen tons of crazy lately, but if you got this right that is as bad as it gets.

How could anything be better or more important than an undefeated season?

I get the trap game thing.... I really wish they were 9-2 or something. Not because I'm "worried" Iowa won't be amped - it just seems more fun that way
Iowa going 12-0 and keeping Nebraska from a bowl game - priceless.

A few weeks ago I heard an announcer say North Carolina should be on upset alert vs. Miami. They won 59-21. They only speculate, it's their job. They are often wrong.

They're calling this a trap game for Iowa, and saying Nebraska has a lot more to play for. One of them alluded to the notion that Iowa might be thinking they can still get in at 12-1 if they win the BCC. Interestingly ESPN also said today a 12-1 Iowa team could still get in with the way ND has been sluggish of late.

In any case, do you buy the notion that Nebraska will be more amped for this game? I mean, how often do you have a chance to go undefeated in the regular season? Hopefully the Hawks are looking at this stuff and using it as added motivation.

And, 60% of The Daily Nebraskan picked Iowa over Nebraska.

fwiw

This game has all the makings of a trap game. Analysts look at this and think it's a perfect spot for an upset and I would agree when you look at what's going on.

Nebraska coming off a bye week.
It's a trophy game.
Winning gets them bowl eligible.
It's their final game at home this year.
They want to crush Iowa's undefeated season.

It all adds up to the public siding with Nebraska. I just hope Iowa keeps playing smart, mistake free football and they will weather the storm.

The public siding with Nebraska? 72% of the betting public has put $ on Iowa as of right now. About 3 out of 4 people. Iowa is easily the favorite in the eyes of the public.

Nothing new. "Experts" have picked against the Hawks most of the season with a few
"upset watches" along the way.

11-0. Soon 12-0.

GO HAWKS!!

Pat Forde picked Iowa State to beat Iowa early this year. Said ISU had too much talent. Ever since then, I have hoped he picks against Iowa every week. Kinda like a good omen when Corso picks against your team.

Nebraska has more motivation?

Trap game?

Crazy talk. Absolutely f'n crazy.

Iowa has a battle on their hands, but we absolutely have more motivation and this is NOT a trap game.

Nowadays, most idiots consider any game you're favored in a "trap" game, which is not what it's meaning has historically been.

A trap game is a heavily favored team that may be overlooking its opponent. There is absolutely no chance that the Hawks are overlooking Nebraska. None.

I get the trap game. Iowa has been in a trap game for a few weeks now. Time and time again this year national sports casters have been saying Iowa will lose the next game.
Saying Nebraska has more to play for that defies logic.
I've watched several Hawk player interviews this week and they know exactly what there playing for.

I'm interested to know how these BIG 10 predictors are doing on their predictions this year as a whole.

Go Hawks! Defy the odds!

I don't know if having byes benefits them (Nebraska) or not. If it does, they have everything working in their favor. Iowa needs this for playoff purposes, but not for B1G CC purposes. I hope Ferentz has Iowa turned on for this for so many reasons, not the least of which is to play in the NC series. So for much for Iowa to be proud of, and so much for those guys across the Missouri to foul up.

Nebraska can be fired up all they want, they still have to go through us. Instead of looking at it from the lens of Nebby being tough to beat, how about we turn the tables and consider that Nebby will have its hands full stopping the Hawkeye train!

I think that would be like saying "water is wet" and wouldn't make for good TV. But the bookies are liking Nebraska too - which means the betting public isn't feeling the Hawkeye vibe so much either. I think it's going to be a barn burner. My gut says "GO BIG RED" but a loss won't shock me.

On paper there just isnt any reason to take nebraska here. Taking nebraska means you dont really have a football reason for doing so, but you believe nebraska has enough intangible advantages to overcome football/on field disadvantages.

Im not willing to go that far, so I believe iowa will prevail, and maybe by 10+.

If they eventually get one right, they will be there to say I told you so! In the mean time, I am enjoying this season. GO HAWKS!

Not sure who fares better with cold, windy, crappy weather. High is projected at 24 degrees with gusts to 25 mph. Couple that with leftovers from the storm hitting today (snow, ice) and it could be interesting.

I don't think anyone should underestimate how bad KF, the staff, and all the players want to absolutely roll Nebraska...

Iowa will have something in the tank for this game...

Nope, I don't think Nebraska will be more hyped than the Hawks. Nebraska may come out very strong in the 1st quarter and score a couple of times, but I think Iowa will remain focused throughout the entire game. That's been their MO throughout the season and I can't see that changing. Last year's game was something they weren't very proud of and the leadership we've seen this year is going to lead the Hawks to a pretty decisive victory, 41-20.

Pat Forde and Dave Wanstead. Stanley Jackson picked Iowa.

Wantstead and Forde said they think Nebraska will have more motivation. Wanstead was the one who called this a possible trap game and threw out the idea that Iowa might be thinking they can still get in at 12-1.

Wanstead is a guy that talks alot and never really says anything. His opinion doesn't mean much to me.

Well, we did the 12 part.
