In 2009, in St. Louis we won the title by 4.5 points over fOSU with:

9 Qualifiers
5 AA's
1 Finalist
0 Champs

while fOSU had:

9 Qualifiers
4 AA's
3 Finalists
1 Champ

In 2015, in St. Louis...

I remember being so pissy after Friday's morning session that year (only Guinness and a boxty quesadilla could help). I thought we were out of it. An ex's mom stayed for all the wrestling and let me know that we were still in the running. Didn't really believe her at the time. :)

The Friday morning session was absolutely brutal...Borschel losing 2 in row hurt a lot. The emotions sure did change in 24 hours when Erekson stuck Zabriskie.

I am hoping this year is not such a roller coaster like 2009 was...the making of the tournament just seems very similar.

In 2009 we didn't have a sure thing outside of Metcalf and he didn't even win it all. This year we don't have a sure thing, but I feel we could very well have 8 AA's. It all could come down to Saturday morning again.

Man, that is a lot more optimism than I can muster. I hope it is you who is right. I only see 6 (Gilman, Clark, Sorenson, Evans, Burak, and Telford). Brooks is certainly a wild card.

I prefer the glass half full point of view.

Gotta try to balance out the half empty viewers on these boards.

6 AA's is probably the safer bet, however Dziewa really made an impression on me in Columbus and Sammy should be rested/motivated to AA.

Im going out on a limb here. I think we do have several great wrestlers. I would not be surprised to see at least 5 guys in the semis. ( Gilman, Clark, Sorenson, Evans, and Telford) and the biggest wildcard is Brooks. He is good guys... I really feel that he will be in the hunt. 184 is wide open and anyone can win it. I can see him making the finals. I think we will have a good tourney.
2 champs, 2 runner ups and 8 AA's. Will that be enough? We will see.

Gilman can beat anyone except Dance and he will get upset! Clark can beat anyone including Dardanes, Sorenson has already beat everyone ahead of him except Habat and that was a one point match. Evans can beat anyone except Kokesh. Telford can beat everyone. Burak can even make the finals. he went OT vs Cox, He has beaten Snyder once and almost twice, He will beat Schiller the next time they wrestle book it. A lot of guys aren't that far away.

I feel Hawks can win this with maybe 7 AA.
Need :
2 finals (one champ)
3 3rds
2 5ths
I really don't see any team with more than one champ.

Ha yes that would absolutely be plenty to win it.

Why do you think Gilman can't beat Dance? He lost to him in OT & Dance has loses to Garrett & Conaway, two wrestlers Gilman has beaten this year.

I'll raise you to 3/4 full glass.

I like your point about Dziewa and Sammy both.

Kelly will win a couple for some points.

And I' saying it here and now.......

Nick gives us a couple bonus point wins.

Mizzou has as good a chance as anybody to have more than one champ.......125.....149.....197.

Gilman-1st
Clark- 3rd
Dwieza- Rd. 12
Sorensen- 3rd
Kelly- 1-2
Moore- 2-2
Evans- 4th
Brooks- 5th
Burak- 7th
Telford- 5th

Could be much better, or much worse. Seedings and draws will play a giant factor, as usual, but I think we bring the trophy home with that... Easy.

Thinking Telford will finish higher than 5th and Burak will finish top 5. Don't count out Brooks to make finals, he is that good.

I think you're overlooking Waters and Houdashelt if you're saying they won't win. They're both in loaded weight classes and anything can happen, but Waters is undefeated and Houdashelt's only loss was a questionable one to Kindig who ducked him the next chance he got (and is battling with serious injuries now).

I see Iowa finishing as follows:

Gilman - 5th (Behind Waters, Garrett, Dance and Tomasello)
Clark - 4th (Behind Dardanes, Taylor and Brewer)
Jeva - DNP, R12 (if he wrestles as well as he did at B1G he could get on the stand, though)
Sorenson - 3rd (Behind Houdashelt/Tsirtsis. Gets revenge against Habat for 3rd)
Kelly - 1-2 (He's a goer, but doesn't have the skills to go with them)
Moore - 1-2 (The exact opposite of Kelly. Assuming he's battling with something)
Evans - 4th (May end up ahead of Storley, but won't beat Brown or Kokesh)
Brooks - 8th (This is an interesting weight, but I still think Brooks will earn a low AA finish)
Burak - 7th (Stingy wrestler, and boring to watch. Still solid in his positioning, but I think he will have issues wrestling such tight matches. I think he finishes behind Hartmann of Duke)
Telford - 4th (Behind Gwiz, McMullan and Medbury)

There are several guys who could possibly make the finals but I don't think it will happen for the Hawkeyes.

I think Mizzou will place the following for comparison:

125 - 1st
133 - N/A
141 - 6th
149 - 2nd
157 - R12
165 - N/A
174 - 5th
184 - R12
197 - 1st
285 - 2-2

133, 165 and 285 cancel out with 157/165 for Iowa. I think the three finalists at 125,149 and 197 will add up quite a bit. Will be exciting to see it all play out.

He has lost his most recent "big" matches with NW, Michigan. It's okay, just means he is due.

I love your optimism, and I love me some Sammy, but I give him about .0002% to make the finals. He'll have (most likely) #16 ranked Stroh, #10 seed Abounader, #1 Dean, then #4 29-1 Dechow, who beat him once already (yes, late TD to win, but still won).

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not confident in that one at all. His draw is brutal.
