As we knew, the B1G schedule was tough and will be tough sledding this year. The non-conference has some quality opponents as well. Iowa plays road series @ Dallas Baptist, @ Southern Illinois, and @ Missouri State. We will find out what this team is about right away as our first series is against DBU. They also go to the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, FL for three games. They also go to Atlanta,GA for four games in the Perfect Game Classic. The last two the teams will are TBA for those. Iowa also hosts Kansas State in a three game series, Iowa hasn't had a lot of luck vs KSU as of lately.

Most of our midweek games are the usual suspects such as Western Illinois, Bradley, Northern Illinois, Nebraska-Omaha, Grandview. However, Iowa is playing two midweek games against Air Force at home as well.

Our B1G schedule really concerns as I think we will compete, but I don't see an "easy" series on the schedule. Iowa could easily miss the B1G tournament based on our tough schedule alone. We open up with Maryland at home in B1G play.

I'm actually pretty excited about this schedule. Tough yes... but if coach can get a couple of the new kids to step up and dodge the injuries like they did last year, it should be another nice year of baseball.

the team could be nearly as talented as last year but be around .500 B1G is solid and this non-conf schedule is kinda brutal

My thoughts exactly. However, depending on the year .500 or slight above/below can get you into the #7/8 spot of the B1G tournament. We will see what happens. If Heller gets it done this year and Iowa finishes with a winning B1G record and has a chance at the NCAA tournament. Then this may be a better job than last season and that is SAYING a lot.

Iowa went 41-18 last year and did great things. I think the next step for this program is a tougher non-conference and tougher B1G schedule. Continue to grow and do good things, then we can talk about hosting a regional and doing some great things in the post season.
