Nunge is on an official. Garza is visiting on his own dime.

Take em both Fran!!!

There will be a scholly available between Conner, Jones, and somebody leaving - don't want to rehash that subject for the billionth time...

Not sure how this is worth but check out this twitter shared by a poster on another site...

Luka Garza cancelled his visit to UGA and is instead going to Iowa City. He's expected to commit to Iowa this weekend.

No doubt that Garza visiting on his own dime is an encouraging sign...
Heard the same thing, would be a really good get, and a center to boot. Nunge would be icing on the cake.

So if you had to pick between the two which one would Fran prefer? You gotta pick one

I know nothing about these two. Somebody give us the cliff notes version of how good these guys are and what their game is

You don't want to rehash it; however, you don't have it right. Jones was granted his medical redshirt and will be on scholarship next season.

Connor most likely will not be on basketball scholarship his freshman year as he is playing both baseball and basketball. So he can take a baseball scholarship or an educational one if it's important to him (which he's been quoted as saying it isn't). The scholarship that many people previously had earmarked for him is going to Garza when he commits.

With Garza taking the only available scholarship...if Nunge decides to commit as well, the most likely scenario is that one of the players on the current roster ends up transferring. Most likely Ellingson if he doesn't get run this year. As we've seen the past few years, one player usually always leaves.

Of the 5 guys on 24/7 Sports who have updated their crystal ball in the past 24 hrs, all have Iowa landing Garza. Iowa is now given a 100% chance by all their predictors of getting him.

Of course Jones was granted his medical redshirt. Everybody knows that. Doesn't mean that he will necessarily be on a basketball scholarship next season. I think it's well within the realm of possibilities that the IA medical staff "doesn't clear Jones for his final year." Not saying that's going to happen, just saying it's possible.

Until I see Jones on the court, I remain skeptical on his effectiveness on the court despite comments from Jones and the staff. Two significant injuries to the same knee is very difficult to overcome.

Again, not saying it will go down that way, just saying that between Jones and/or a transfer that a ride will open up.

His baseball scholarship will be like 10% of a basketball scholly will be.

Indiana fan: Hey, you Iowa bigots, are you gonna start referring to running a player off as "Franing" a kid?
Me: No it's not the same- when you "Crean" a player you also disparage his mother and shoot his dog.
Indiana fan: That may be, but it looks the same from here.

Rob Howe is reporting Iowa would take both if they can land both though they don't have any open scholarships. Obviously one would come from Connor, not sure about the other.
Any number of things could happen for the 1 needed scholarship. My guess is you wouldn't have both come on the same day if you are taking one over the other. Fran knows you can't oversign so that leads me to believe that he knows something none of the rest of us do. Either he knows someone is leaving. Or he knows someone has volunteered to pay their own way, or he knows someone won't be on the team for whatever reason.

This is my guess too. Jones got all the red tape done for another year. If he is needed he's good to go. If Fran can fill the roster with quality recruits Jones moves on.

I see that Nunge has 2 recent predictions to Vandy. Also didn't realize that Garza was rated so high and also has an awesome offer list, would be huge pick up!!!! Football season tends to consume me this time of year, but always excited to see Fran and Co. bringing in big names in recruiting

I think you are wrong on a couple of statements. Jones was granted a 6th year by the NCAA. That doesn't mean he's guaranteed an extra season as a Hawkeye. If Connor is on scholarship it counts against the BBall team limits. This was made a rule in FB and BBall a number of years ago so major FB and BBall programs couldn't stockpile extra athletes using the more minor school programs like track, baseball, etc. If Connor were to get a baseball scholarship he'd also be counted a scholarship player in BBall. I think they also closed the academic scholarship loophole. Jack Swanson easily qualified for an academic scholarship yet he was on FB scholarship.

Garza, Nunge, Cook, Uhl, Kriener, Pemsel, and Baer would make for a very loaded front court. It could cause some match up nightmares for foes. Conner, Williams, and Bohannan could have a bunch of assists with that group.

It would be fun to watch.

Sounds like Garza might commit this weekend. You listen to his interviews and he even sounds like Woodbury.

To be clear...are you saying if Connor McCaff was offered part of the 11.7 baseball scholarship limit ... it would also count toward the 13.0 basketball limit?

I've heard Woody and Garza were fraternal twins and since Garza was smaller, he was given away to another family to be raised and now he will commit this weekend at Iowa so that he can fulfill Iowa's Final Four destiny... Or I may have just watched too many movies lately...
