To be clear...are you saying if Connor McCaff was offered part of the 11.7 baseball scholarship limit ... it would also count toward the 13.0 basketball limit?
If he is saying that, he would be incorrect. Thats why track coaches love to get their runners on football scholarships, because it doesn't count toward their scholarship distributionTo be clear...are you saying if Connor McCaff was offered part of the 11.7 baseball scholarship limit ... it would also count toward the 13.0 basketball limit?

Heard from a source last night that Nunge committed to the coaches yesterday.
could be true.....would like a to look into that if you have a linkYou can play football on scholarship and still run track without counting against track. However, if a scholarship track athlete wanted to play football, they would count against football scholarship limits.

I'm pretty sure you meant Basketball and Football as "head count" sports, and if so that's my recollection. Into the 1970's some coaches had receivers that were on track scholarships, to get around football scholarship limits IIRC. Now those type coaches run off unproductive players (see Saban).IIRC, the rule is that if you are playing a "head count" sport and an "equivalency" sport and are on scholarship, you count against the head count sport. For men, there are two head count sports, baseball and football. So, if Connor wanted to play baseball on scholarship but walk on to the basketball team, he'd still count against basketball. Basically, he'll have to walk on to both sports if he plays both or actually be on a basketball scholarship (if he takes a scholarship).
If he played, say, football and basketball and was on scholarship for football, he'd only count against football. If he, say, ran cross country and was on scholarship for baseball, he'd only take up whatever part of a baseball scholarship he was receiving. But basketball and football are treated differently if they are combined with one of the other sports.

Nothing personal, but another poster's "pretty good source" had Nunge commiting y'day.
The only good source is the athletic department/b-ball program itself.
If Nunge or Garza commits, the news won't be coming from the athletic department or the basketball program. Teams/coaches cannot mention a recruit by name until they sign a LOI. If we get news, it will be from the player himself or from one of the websites (like Hawkeye Report).

What do you mean by talking like he committed? At CID, for what it's worth, a guy looking like Nunge and family are talking like he had commited.
Sorry if confusing. CID is Cedar Rapids airport. Yes, talking as if he commited. His mom and dad (or coach) were helping him with how to tell the other coaches who recruited him and with a possible tweet to indicate that he committed.
I would request you check in with your pretty good source again. See if this person still feels the same. From pretty good source, Nunge committed this morning.
