will still be at junior day on Feb 17. may be freeing himself up to look around a little bit. hope he sticks with us in the end. Probably just following policy to stay in good standing.

Seems odd he would publicly blame the staff, in order to stay on their good side.....

makes me wonder more about brents and johnson!

Minnesota and Purdue both have offered recently, maybe he wants to play closer to home. Maybe he wants to visit and Iowa said no as long as he’s committed. Whatever it may be good luck to the young man and do what is best for you.
didn't IN offer him a long time ago?

Why can you decommit from the program to look at other schools then recommit, (even if somebody else has a chance to commit in their place) but if you look at other schools while committed, then your scholarship gets pulled and there’s no opportunity to recommit?

I’m not trying to make some “Anti-KF/Staff” point either. That just seems weird to me

he's not guaranteed anything right now
if someone better comes along, his offer will be worthless....

they will also work more recruiting his position now I'd assume

Have to agree with H4... very well said and I don’t think the staff should have to wait for someone who’s not sure even though he’s a youngster but if his heart isn’t with IOWA that’s his ordeal.. and maybe a good thing he did because we don’t need anymore half hearted Hawkeyes

This makes so much sense to me.

The fact that teenagers are involved makes this hardly simple, but a policy like this isn't hard to understand. We want you to wait until you're 100% committed and once that is demonstrated we are going to move around resources to make YOUR team better. Based on that commitment we're going to be calling you less and spending less time with guys at your position so there shouldn't be a need to talk to other schools.

He's doing the right thing. But now his spot will be open to other high school prospects. Iowa is getting a rep as a place to play db then get a pro opportunity,DBU. We have a lot of high quality young db's in the program and some very good prospects in the '18 class. Not worried about our secondary. If Tracy comes back then fine if not we can find another quality player.

What does word commitment mean?? Decommitting allows him to visit other schools because he is open and saying he decided too early. Kirk wants his players to be 100% sure when they commit. Kirk knows that 16-17 year olds will change their minds and sometimes change it often.

Hope that he explores all his options and then decides to re-commit to Iowa if they still have a slot available for him.

He just wants to try and get a four star rating from rivals and knows he has a much better shot if not committed to Iowa...

It is still early in process and he still is very high on Iowa and is coming to Iowa's junior day on Michael Jordans birthday. I don't see this as Iowa is losing him until he says differently. He is only a junior. Id take visits also.

Yes I don't see this as a big issue. Says more about his character that he's being upfront that he made a decision too quickly and respects the way that Iowa handles things and respects the staff enough to decommit before going on other visits. There are other guys who have done similar things (Fant perhaps?). I think Noah Shannon was back and forth a few times before making the call for Iowa. If he ends up coming to Iowa, great. If not, best of luck to him.

I wish the NCAA would make an exception that the coach's could comment on these types of situations.

A lot of these guys in situations such as these (not saying this is the case in this situation) are able to blame the staff for wanting to change their mind knowing they (coaching staffs) can't respond with what really went down.

Has anybody or anything said what you claim here? There has been plenty of examples of recommits.

What possible good could that do? Appease fanbases? How does that improve football, or the recruit's life or decision?
