2019 Larry Tracy decommits from Iowa

He's doing the right thing, to abide by KF's "rules" so he can take other visits, but it goes 2 ways and his spot is now open for another player to take it.

I'm going double shot of kool-aid on this one and assuming KF and crew slowed down a little bit because they have been fishing in better water lately and think they can land something better. I am going to completely ignore that at this point Wiscy has the #3 recruitting class in the Nation for 19 and we have alot of offers out but offers don't get coffee.

Thanks for the clarification Blair.
Kind of odd in the opening thread he said he hadn't heard from Iowa for a while, and in Blairs's link he said he remains in close contact with coach Bell. Which is it? Better the young man make sure, its a big decision.

From what I am hearing, he just verballed too early and communicated with coaches he would like to take officials and still has high interest in Iowa. Not a big deal here at all, just got excited on his visit and his cousin committing and got caught in the moment and committed at that time. Coaches understand the situation and will continue to recruit him and the relationship is still solid

Dylan Burn said in a tweet that he spoke with Tracy a few weeks ago. He wrote that Tracy said he hadn't heard from Iowa in a while. Who Knows. But yes Larry should get this right for both sides sake.

Has anybody or anything said what you claim here? There has been plenty of examples of recommits.
I was thinking specifically of what happened in the '17 class, where recruits went and visited other schools while committed to Iowa and got their scholarships pulled... unless those were unique circumstances. Also thought there might have been something in that letter outlining what's required of recruits if they choose to commit.

He must have picked up some good offers

What possible good could that do? Appease fanbases? How does that improve football, or the recruit's life or decision?

Oh it wouldn't help. But I guarantee coaches, who if it wasn't for their integrity/professionalism etc would love to do it to certain kids.

Well, there was a no contact period that just ended two weeks ago.

Wow, the person who wrote this doesn't think much of Iowa and apparently thinks Purdue is a football power now.

Mostly harmful stuff written from the point of view of Purdue. Truth is they can't lose players from in-state to an Iowa if they are going to be any good long term. Not surprising Tracy is looking around given the amount of talent Iowa has collected in the defensive backfield the last 2 years. Wouldn't shock me if he still ends up at Iowa.

I don't think he believes they are a power, but when you've been as terrible as Purdue has for so long, going to a bowl game and winning it are big deals.

A few things could have impacted how he viewed things too. For one thing, Brohm does appear to be a fine coach. Thus, quite apart from Purdue's recent history of mediocrity ... I would understand if Bohm is really selling the perspective of Purdue being on the upswing. Thus, that is a nice selling point ... particularly to in-state guys.

Another feature is that I believe Larry Tracy probably projects best at safety. When Larry initially jumped aboard, the Hawks looked like they'd be upperclassman heavy. Now, it looks like Geno Stone and Amani Hooker are obvious up-and-comers ... with at least one of them being a starter in '18 ... and both likely being starters in '19. On top of that, Craddieth was added to the '18 class ... and he's a high-ceiling safety recruit. Thus, all of these factors increase the difficulty-level in earning a starting spot ... and many recruits these days want a "guarantee."

For some reason I thought they viewed dallas as a LB

That is possible - but my guess is that the look at him more like an Amani Hooker-like safety. In other words, they view him as a versatile guy ... a guy who can play at safety but also play in a sub-package as a bandit LB (essentially a nickel DB who plays the role that our LEO LB plays in coverage).
