Can we take a second and admire Brian Ferentz….

Well, the offense was serviceable in 3 of those 5 seasons. In that time period Iowa played in a big ten championship at a competitive disadvantage that was against the rules.

In the two seasons without a serviceable offense, Iowa also played in one big ten championship game, and lost to the eventual national champions.

Another of those seasons (COVID) was played without a big ten title game.

Not sure what you're arguing here. If you're going to say Iowa should have won a big ten title game in one of those two year they didn't even participate, you might as well say both seasons.

And if a big ten title would have done it for you, I don't ever want to hear you minimizing the big ten west
I stopped reading at there was no Big Ten title game because of Covid. Do you literally just make things up?!? Which season was that again? 🤔

You're right. I had forgotten.

Remembered the bowl game got cancelled and was thinking the big ten championship did too.

Regardless, Iowa had one of it's best winning percentages under KF that season. So bitch away

You didn't stop at the serviceable offense part?

Although funny to me that even by his standard an unserviceable offense won the West. Yet can't possibly fathom the team would be better with one.

So do you not count 2002-2005 and the 2012 to 2019? Those are BF seasons at Iowa as well.
Was Brian Ferentz calling plays for the first stretch. Was he a coach???
And when they took the training wheels off Brian when KOK retired and for some unknown reason made the worst offensive coordinator in big ten history the quarterbacks coach as well, I’d say that was the second act of this Shakespearean comedy.

Iowa should have played for four straight Big Ten championships from 2020 to 2023. The only reason we didn’t is because in 2020 Boy Wonder decided to throw the ball 50, yes 50, times against a Northwestern team you were beating 20 to 0. In 2022 Boy Wonder came up with the brilliant gameplan to come out slinging the ball all over the field against one of the worst rush defenses in modern Nebraska football history. You can’t make this type of incompetence up!

…. And how he produced so historically little with a ton of skill position talent. It’s pretty hard to fathom that his offenses in 2021 and 2022 had players like:
Tyler Goodson. Backup running back for the Colts.
Tyrone Tracey Jr. Starting running back for the NY Giants.
Kaleb Johnson. 1st team All American running back.
Sam LaPorta. A top ten NFL tight end.
Charlie Jones. 1st team All American receiver and in the NFL.
It’s really something to be that bad with such good players!
So these guys sucked under Brian? Tyrone did, because he wouldn't switch to RB and Charlie is only doing in the NFL what he did at Iowa

Just asked the question for clarification.

"Unknown" to you.

Maybe you should educate yourself instead of slandering people in public

And then BF was probably "too conservative" in every other loss, right?

Let’s make the case for Brian costing Iowa a big ten title:
We didn’t play in two title games because of two horrendous losses, both at home (Northwestern 2020 and Nebraska 2022) and both caused by terrible offensive gameplans.
Let’s say without Brian we go to Indy four years in a row. 2020 to 2023. And let’s say we have an average offense, instead of historically bad.

Michigan was around an 11 or 12 point favorite in 2021 and 21 point favorite in 2023. Based on these odds Iowa had a 29% chance of winning at least one of these two games and being Big Ten Champs.

If Iowa made it to four Big Ten Title games and for arguments sake let’s keep the spread (it would be even better for Iowa with an average offense) for all four title games at the opponent -11 points, like Michigan in 2021. Iowa would have had a 65% chance of winning at least one of these four title games and being Big Ten Champs. So statistically Brian Ferentz cost Iowa at least one, if not multiple, Big Ten championships.

Brian has been gone for over a year. Let it go.
When our offense has recovered from the depths of despair and the laughingstock reputation which are still being hampering our team and recruiting, we can all move on. Until then, it’s absolutely relevant.

This is 100% on KF no one else

Charlie was a first team all American at Purdue. He was a fourth string receiver at Iowa. Enough said.
"Following the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game, Jones decided to forgo participation in the 2023 Citrus Bowl and prepare for the 2023 NFL draft. Jones was a consensus Second Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten recipient"

Consensus 2nd team and then quit on his teammates for the bowl game..... threw that in since people get in a tizzy over it.......

Some of the people on this board have got to be the most miserable losers in real life. Like what would possess you to start a thread like this, in the middle of the off season, for no real reason, about someone who was fired from Iowa 15 months ago?

Hey. Don’t blame other people for your lack of success in life. I still believe in you! And how was Brian Ferentz fired 15 months ago when he was still coaching for Iowa a year ago this month?!? How could you forget that inspirational zero point performance against Tennessee???

Been drinking the clear stuff again? But in fairness to Brian no one knows if he ever got to call a complete game without Captain Kirk stepping in.

It’s just all probabilities and odds but I promise you it’s correct. Just convert the chances of not winning a game as an 11 point underdog and multiply that number by itself 4 times and that gets you to a 65 percent chance that Iowa would have won at least one of Big Ten title.
