Hi all,
I have put together an initial Google Doc with all of the current Big Ten returning rosters (including returning minutes and points), incoming recruits, incoming transfers, and open scholarships. I will keep this up-to-date with any news.
Everything is color coded for class to the best of my knowledge. I assumed players would utilize their COVID year unless I found an article or an announcement stating a player wouldn't. COVID seniors are marked with an asterisk. I also assumed any player in the transfer portal and any player in the NBA draft is not returning until news states a player is returning.
All stats for returning players are taken from ESPN (including heights and positions) and all recruiting info is taken from Rivals. I only included a player's minutes and PPG if they played in 20+ games, unless I knew they had an injury, so we didn't water it down with garbage time players
If any information looks incorrect, please let me know. Like I said, I will keep this updated as we get news throughout the off-season.

Trueish, but we lost 2 of our best shooters and scorers and perhaps our best defender. Good work and keep all of your info until the line-ups are established. You never know how teams are going to fit together. Until we can look at all the line ups completed it's hard to make any projections and then it is still almost impossible.

Thanks! Iowa does have a lot returning compared to other teams right now; teams like Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin have been decimated. Of course, Wisconsin always seems to reload. MSU and MI look stacked.

Looking like Trayce and Race might both be back for IU. Hoping so. Geronimo is a maybe.

That’s another one we recruited..,
Yeah he took an unofficial visit to us as well. Unfortunately it sounds like he has some pretty serious mental health issues going on right now. A wisconsin beat writer is saying that he's not even sure if he'll ever play basketball again. He wasn't with the team at all for the final 8 games of the season, including the tournament.

Illinois has not been decimated in the true sense of the word. Good opportunity to reload. Kofi, Hawkins, Melendez, Goode, Podziemski return. Melendez is one to watch for a breakout.

Currently, Illinois has the 8th best recruiting class in the country. A five star and 3 four stars. Skyy Clark, Jayden Epps, Ty Rodgers and Sincere Harris. Also added four star transfer center Dain Dainja from Baylor.

Transfer portal should bring in a couple of players, too. Terrance Shannon is a strong possibility. They have offered Courtney Ramey as a veteran point to help with Clark and Epps. Brandon Murray is on campus today.

Illinois lost some good players, no doubt. But some 4-star rated returnees who had to wait behind seniors (Melendez, Goode, Podziemski), a blossoming big (Hawkins), a top recruiting class, and a couple of transfers will help a reload.

And, of course, Kofi is expected back. Who knows, he could change his mind, but he would be taking a pay cut to play any where else but the NBA and he is not on draft boards. Put four talented players around Kofi and you’re going to be good.

Don’t write Illinois off just yet. Some moving parts but a chance to be better than last year.

If TJD gets feedback that he will solidly go in round 1, then yes, he’s gone. But, not many mocks have him in the 1st round. Going in round 2 likely means G-League. He will make better money with NIL at IU than the G-League. Guess we will see soon.

Yeah I think the consensus is that he's 80% to come back. Big differences in 2nd round deals though: Weiskamp drafted at 41 and makes $200k. Garza taken at 52 and has a 2 year deal worth $2.5 mil with $1 mil guaranteed.

Think TJD is rumored to have NIL deals above Weisy's salary but well below $1 mil. So it's really a crap shoot when it comes 2nd round G-League contracts.

Wieskamp had his contract converted, he makes more than that.

Daily update:
Spencer was first team all-Patriot League and led league in scoring.

Marble leaves a hole at Michigan St for a big, I'd imagine they get involved in the portal for one. Could just be message board scuttlebutt, but the smoke that Max Christie is leaving is getting thicker; also sounds like Hauser has yet to confirm he is using his COVID year.

Important deadlines: April 24 is deadline for early NBA draft declares, May 1 is deadline for guys to be in portal and maintain their "free transfer eligibility", June 1 is deadline to exit draft.

I expect Kofi to turn pro tomorrow. He listened to his brother in Jamaica over NBA scouts. Will leave over $1.2 million nil on the table to bet on himself. Good luck to him.

it will be interesting to see how this changes

I have to laugh at this. He'll get drafted, maybe even in the 1st round, but may struggle with the size and speed of the NBA. He's definitely going to make some money, though.

NIL is not a career. It is a flash in the pan.

Yeah, people also tend to think NBA or bust too since obviously that's the best league and the one we in the states watch. However, Kofi could easily get big 7 figure deals done in Europe tomorrow if he wanted to. NIL is nice, but if you hate going to classes (which it sounded like Kofi REALLY hated going to classes) then you're better off just taking a slight paycut to try out the NBA before going to Europe and cashing out.

I certainly hope you’re right, as it’s great for the program to have notable NBA players. However, I unfortunately hadn’t seen him on many mock drafts.

He's already stayed a year beyond where I thought he would. He's not really gaining a benefit from being at IL anymore. He's not going to win NPOY or even MVP in the B1G next season. He can get his degree anytime. He wants to get paid.

I think it’s about more than money, as I doubt he makes more than what he would have at Illinois ($1M+). I think he was just done with being in college and figured one more year of getting older NOT in the G-League might hurt his prospects over the next few years.

As for your other claim, on what basis are you making this?? He was a first team All American and finalist for Big Ten POY. To state those as outrageously unattainable goals is really unfair to the big guy … he’s literally proven he can be a contender for both.

Do you honestly think that he had a chance to win BT POY or NPOY? Be honest - he's too one-dimensional to ever be considered for it.

Unless I missed something, Goofers are now full on scholarship unless we see another transfer out.

A chance? Uh, yes? He was literally considered for it this year, dude! Whether or not you think he "deserved" to be is your own prerogative, but he was in the top 3 candidates after missing multiple conference games due to injury...? He objectively had a "chance" this year, and there isn't a reason to believe he would have been worse next year.

Moot point now.

As I said, he's one-dimensional. Never would have happened. And that's not my opinion, the proof was in the pudding, so to say. Great college player because he's a freak of nature but not because he's the most talented. He's going to have to get a lot better/have a more diversified game to make it in the league because one-trick ponies don't do well there these days.
