With football in two weeks, which game do u think Iowa uses for recruiting? I was thinking Michigan 10/1. What in state and out of state recruits do you think they will invite?

Joe Sealey
Dru Ayala
Luke Lilledahl
Max Magayna
Aeoden Sinclair

Sealy is the bluest of blue chips and Lilledahl and Sinclair not much behind that, all 3 have pace and can light up the scoreboard. I know Jesuroga and Lilledahl have spent a good amount of time working out together. Magayna and Ayala while very good wrestlers can't be considered elite on a national level at this point.

We are going to need an elite 141 soon. Is that Block or does he end up bigger? Is Chittum a 149 or 157? Seems like a 149 to me and if so still have 157 questions. Is Arnold a 174 or 184, already had some weight cutting issues in the 170s range but definitely a shorter 184. His ranking has dropped some and had been injured and thus largely inactive since the middle of last season. Hopefully he can get healthy and have a re-birth of sorts after moving to Iowa. Franklin battles but not an elite recruit. Are we good holding pat there? Can he hold 197? Will Kennedy be a 165 lifer or move up eventually? Is Brands good enough to be the 174 for the next 3 years? Of course the Kueter two sports unknowns.

A lot of high end talent on the national level coming up the next few years.

I know this name is toxic right now BUT ANgelo Ferrari just won the toughest bracket in the country at state this year. Think he beat 2 big boarders in route to a title. Would be a shame to judge him by his brother. Heard he’s very different. Bring in the hate - just sayin he’s number 2 on the 2024 board for a reason.

He may be a nice kid and a good wrestler, but it’s not worth bringing that family in in any amount. Keep his dad as far away from this program as possible

You can wish it all you want but deep down you have to know a lot of schools aren’t going to touch him and Iowa is one of them. And Albert isn’t the reason why.

Don’t know much except that heard the older 2 are shitty and the young one is chill. Nothin about the pops. Not well read on it lol.

Thought Lillendahl all ready committed. Have to figure out a way to get Sealy! Ayala is a lot like his brother maybe not quite as good but has a motor and does not stop my biggest concern with him is will he get big enough and where would he fit into the lineup. Magayna I’ll just say pass good solid wrestler but never mind I’ll just leave it at that. Sinclair is another one that I thought had verbally committed but if not a MUST get almost as bad as we need Sealy.

Arnold will fill 174 just fine still think he has not hit his ceiling and will continue to get better he will have to earn a state title this year with Tate being a possible road block. Arnold remind me a lot of Jaybo. Chittum will probably be 149 and look out 149 Brent Metcalf 2.0 is coming. Franklin will be 197 and be similar to Warner. 141 I feel will be Block down the road and he is going to get consistently better every year in that room. Don’t count Riggins out yet at hopefully 157. Give him time and he could surprise you down the road. Don’t know how PK would do at 174 might be a bit to short. I believe he is 165 for his career and while I love the Bull I think PK has a few more offensive attacks he can use just maybe not Alex’s pure strength.

1 more thing HARD PASS on anybody with the last name Ferrari. Sorry about the caps guys but no way do I want that family anywhere near the hawks program. You all thought Mocco’s dad was nuts this guy is on a whole different level.

Gabe Arnold doesn’t plan on wrestling 174 in college

Is this based on public comments or something else? I believe publicly a couple months ago he said he would not be wrestling 170 in high school but I didn’t hear him rule out 174 in college.

I’m thinking Ferrari’s dad owns multiple pairs of Zubaz pants and paints his face for NFL games. Total tool

I agree on at least taking a look.

I am not too sure how much of a problem his father could be to the program? What is he going to do? Write dumb crap on a message board, show up to matches drunk? Honestly, what? yes he may be a POS, but like what was said. The younger kid may be different, and obviously a long discussion would have to take place about the IOWA program and how it is run etc....

IF(and I know it is a big IF) the kid is even considering being a HAWK. I would certainly be willing to bring him in for a look. Talk with his current coaches; coaches and teams that he competes against, his teachers, look at his social media It is not rocket science to figure out pretty quickly what the kid is all about.

If I were a head coach of a major program (which I'm not), who grew up with less than ideal first hand experiences with my own father (which I have), then I might tend to shy away from expending energy on a long discussion with a prospective wrestler's challenging dad.

Then again, I might relate to the wrestler's situation, and think I should pay forward a chance similar to that which had been granted me.

Therefore, I could see it going either way with the young Ferrari and Iowa.

Sinclair is an absolute assassin. I have loved watching this kid develop and maintain ice veins while doing so. With that said, he is going to be tough to get. Askren isn't exact an Iowa homer. I personally see him with Wisky, Purdue, or OK State... Although, I would love to see him at IA State and cheer on my #2 team.

I fully admit I could be wrong here, but in the back of this foggy brain, regarding Baby Max....Iowa is on the no list. It is an open knowledge scenario that $ is the driving force. Full ride coverage. It is not an arrogance thing, nor is it a "we are only the elite" deal, I believe it truly is a personal finances thing... Unless something has changed in the last year or so, I believe that is the case. And I totally get it! Max also does not do any International Style wrestling, so if I had to guess, from a D1 level, it drops a few notches. IDK, then again, wins are wins in folkstyle. Perhaps I just am thinking out loud on a dang keyboard before the coffee hits

What? This is a potential short-term program wrecker, imo. No way. (I hope)

As far as I can tell, it’s nothing like the situation with the T’s and their father.
