2026 recruiting

Really beginning to wonder what is going on with the recruiting in the 2026 class. This is an insanely top heavy class for the state of Iowa, possible 5* Evan Jacobson TE, and 4* CB Jayden Mcgregory have not been offered. Ross will be another Keuter type with an offer form both the wrestling and football programs. Does anyone know if Jacobson and Mcgregory have said, "thanks, but no thanks" to the hawks?

Sad.

They had Sutter in for camp, and he's a 4* TE, along with the 4* Vitti, but the latter projects as a safety.
Don’t know either of those last names but questions should certainly be swirling heavily as to why these top in-state ballers are not being offered by our staff.

Has to be interest both ways, I wondering if this is why Iowa hasn’t offered. Mcgregory has been on campus multiple times though.

Typically if we haven't offered top in state kids, it's either that the staff doesn't have them as high on their own board or something came up during due diligence. Not saying it's one or the other, but that's typically been the reasons.

And they usual prove to be correct in not offering.

Not 100%, but they don’t miss very often.

I just honestly can't remember the last time a top 3 guy in the state wasn't offered by the hawks. The closest in recent was probably Sama, and that does look like a miss.

Edit: I guess Brix may count if the rumors about his offer being pulled are true.

I don’t know about top 3 guys? If that’s the bar, then I don’t know?

Players in general that they did not offer who seemed worthy, seem to not pan out very often. Another recent one is the kid from maybe Mt. Pleasant? that went to Nebraska.

Again, like I said, some do, but they seem to know what they’re doing when they don’t offer an in state kid who had pretty good offers.

that is where I am scratching my head, both of these guys are 4* kids, this isn't normal for instate recruiting. These guys aren't late risers either like Dekkers was. Not sure about Mt. Pleasant, are you thinking about Depeape from Pleasant valley? they did offer him, but that one certainly looks like Iowa dodged a bullet.

I think he's referring to Lutovsky from Mt Pleasant, 2021? recruit.

I found him. Henry Lutovsky from Mt. Pleasant. He started a couple of games for them as a Sophomore last year. Looks like he’s currently a back up guard as a RS Junior.

There is a reason they aren’t offering. I don’t know what it is, but there is a reason.

Look, I’m grasping at hope….the last Stud we brought in was JC and he sucked. Before that, Tate.

Kidding aside, I do like that Herrera was offered after Lester was hired. At least we’ve got some new eyes looking at the position.
