On February 22, 1819, the United States acquired Florida from
Spain. James Monroe was President and his Secretary of State
John Quincy Adams signed a treaty with Spain to achieve this.

Officially, this treaty put Florida into U.S. hands at no cost beyond
the U.S. assumption of some $5 million dollars of claims by U.S.
citizens against Spain.

Bottom Line: So, 205 years later on this HROT Forum we enjoy
all the posts from the various Noles who contribute here.

Meh… give it back.

That would be wild if Spain sent in an occupying force and Republicans cut off all further lethal aid.

I'm willing to see how much FSU brings to the BIG 10 first Otherwise check the return policy.

Natives have more than enough stockpiled to send the Spanish Armada 2024 packing.

Even the fantasy threats people want to construct for the US aren’t in the least bit realistic.

No doubt thousands of people in the panhandle would flock to the invasion beach to collect their own scalp.
It would be a massacre, especially considering the dilapidated state of the Spanish military.
No country on earth has a shot to even present a threat to us. We have to camp around the world to try and find a fight.
Imagine if we put those resources into something useful to Americans instead.

Imagine if malign actors like Russia, North Korea, and Iran didn't exist. We could house the homeless.

Can we give it back? I'd like to close on our house to a MAGA just before Florida changes hands.

Got this from reading an Andrew Jackson biography, but when he ran off with his wife Rachel (she abandoned her husband) to Natchez, Mississippi in the 1790's, Natchez was actually at that time controlled by the Spanish.

Iowa was part of the Louisiana Purchase from France in 1803.

Florida was acquired from Spain by treaty in 1819.
