22-23 full schedule here

Dude…. Half that info is about other teams besides the Hawks. Don’t you realize this is an IOWA message board? Did you really have to mention anything about the other teams? Lol

Taking a second look…. Most of that release page is about other teams… Sheesh…

I like that they are having back to back weigh ins in mid November. That will help get the weight down and get them ready for 3 day weigh ins at the NCAA tourney.

Anybody having issues trying to sync the schedule with Google calendar? Nothing seems to be bbn happening and it doesn't show up on my calendar. Any help would be appreciated. Also, wish there was a schedule like football has with Jack Campbell, maybe Spencer Lee. Makes a great lock screen.

Agreed. The goal should be to peak in November, and stay at that peak through March. There's no way that will lead to any injuries, highlighted by the fact that Iowa has never had a starter with a significant injury.

I didn’t think he’s saying they should peak in November, I hope no one thinks that peaking for 5 months is sustainable. I think he’s saying that back to back weigh in days helps wrestlers understand what March tourneys will be like. With all the young wrestlers Iowa has this year, back to back weight management days are extremely valuable. Learning proper weight management can be a pain in the ass, early season tourneys are a great learning tool.

You peak in March not November.

I think the soldier salute is what they tried to whip together after midlands his from Covid. Should be a great event.

Is Big + sport specific now? I thought in past it was for all sports if you subscribed.

They previously had an everything pass (every event on btnplus) and a school pass (every sport for your selected school). I think it was last year they unveiled another option where you can select a sport and get every event on that sport (for example wrestling gets all duals and tournaments covered on btnplus) but you wouldn’t get other sports of your preferred school so no mens or womens bball on btnplus or no gymnastics or no swimming, whatever a person would be into that’s covered on btnplus.

And there’s different prices depending on which option you choose. But historically the big tens and midlands were viewable with just an Iowa school pass and idk if it’s only tournaments that Iowa was physically at or if those tournaments were viewable with a school pass regardless if your selected team was there.

Looks like 69.99 for wrestling. Only option is annual, no monthly.

I've been off the board for awhile - who will be there is this a dual format or individual bracket?

From what I can tell, this is a traditional tournament structure, not duals.

Teams (as of this posting):
MEN: Army, The Citadel, Columbia, VMI, Wyoming
WOMEN: Central Methodist, Columbia, Indiana Tech, Iowa Wesleyan, Life University, Simpson, Tiffin, William Penn

South Dakota State has listed it on their schedule, but no official announcement from the tournament yet.

The TV and streaming availability looks to be pretty straightforward this year.

1. Presumably, all home duals will be on BTN or B1G+. No idea yet what the breakdown will be. Generally, low-profile duals (most non-conference matchups as well as less-formidable opponents like Purdue, Northwestern, and possibly Illinois) will be on B1G+, and the bigger matches will be on BTN.

2. The Soldier Salute will be on B1G+ (see more below).

3. The Army and Chattanooga duals will be on ESPN+.

4. The Arm Bar at the Armory (duals vs. Buffalo and Sacred Heart) and the NWCA All-Star Classic will be on FloWrestling.

5. The Big Ten tournament will be on B1G+ and BTN. Usually, only the finals are on BTN and everything else is B1G+.

6. The NCAA tournament will on ESPN networks/platforms (but not ESPN+).

As noted earlier in the thread, the new Soldier Salute tournament in Coralville will be streamed on B1G+. The press release posted in Cody Goodwin's tweet references the new wrestling-specific "sport pass", but I am guessing that an Iowa-specific "school pass" will also work (as has been the case in previous years with Midlands and is still the case for the Big Ten tournament). To me, the language in the press release is merely trying to drive interest to the new sport pass option and shouldn't be interpreted as saying that the Soldier Salute is exclusively available via the sport pass. But that is just my reading of it.

Add UNI to the list.

The last couple years, the BTN has shown the entire conference tournament but you would need BTN+ if you wanted to see the action on specific mats. Otherwise, you get split screen coverage.

I see the Luther Open is day before Hawks opening meet with Cal Baptist. I wonder if there will be fewer Hawks entering this year.

Nice. I've been in the camp that really wanted to see them back on the schedule, but didn't necessarily want to lose a full competition date for it. Soldier Salute seemed like a good way to get both, so glad it happened.
I’d like to see the Hawks wrestle the Panthers every season. Maybe first meet of year.
