What are you talking about? Iowa won every game last season vs them plus one at carver this year.
Yes, and they also came up a biscuit short at PSU and at MSU which could have given them a couple more road game wins.
They are a middle of the
pack B1G team, doubtful they make a BTT run like last year, and more than likely 1 win in NCAA tourney and'
then bounced out. That is pretty much Fran Ball, not Bad, not Great, don't complain because the alternative is maybe another Lickliter or maybe a Lute Olson.

Kind of. Beyond that we didn’t take care of the ball. Terrible passes into traffic, Rebraca was tentative early and Conner left his man to double and paid the price. A 6’11” shot blocker would solve a lot of the defensive problems…
If only Iowa had at least 3 Tony Perkins, they might have had a shot tonight.
Tony is the ONLY one with a consistent driving and/or drive-stop-pull up J midrange game.

Agree. I don't think Fran is a bad coach. But, I also don't think he is what I would call a good coach (better than average). Like you said he is what he is. Not bad, not good. An average coach that will win some games he shouldn't,. Then lose some games he shouldn't. And will get us in the NCAAs most years.

Normally to stay in one place this long you need better results.
I don't necessarily dislike him but if he decided to move on id probably be more excited than dissapointed.
We are a bad road team.3/24 from 3 is the story . Most of them were uncontested and we air balled more than we made! NW is now 1-9 against us. Congrats to them they finally beat us.
I see Fran as a terrific offensive coach (sans bad shooting games like tonight or Richmond last year) but a lousy defensive coach.
It's exciting when the shots are falling, but the the "outscore em" approach doesn't really work against superior opponents in the big dance. Those teams can score AND defend. Iowa just scores.
It doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. Iowa lost because of poor shooting tonight. Fran also didn’t deserve to get tossed over that call. Teeing him up for being out of the box by a couple steps when coaches are in the court all the damn time (pet peeve of mine) is incredibly weak.
Been an odd year for the conference on the road overall, nobody’s really done well. One really good team, about seven or eight decent teams, and the rest are mediocre.
I attended the game tonight. New welsh Ryan is nice. Packed house. The student section is behind the hoop on both sides of the court. The students were relentless with the balloons and the chants. Not creative at all but relentless. Undoubtedly that had to have some effect on the shooting.
Refs weren't the problem. Too many missed shots early then everyone except Tony started second guessing. Off night for Payton and Murray. And dix didn’t have productive minutes.
I will say iowa played some tough defense in first half and early part of the second half. Kept them in the game. Bouie and adige are just able to beat almost any of our defenders when isolated one on one. Especially when we didn’t recover after the screen. Smart coaching by Collins.
I’d be fine with another matchup against NW in the semifinals of the big ten.

Fran wasn’t wrong to argue the missed call, every coach would do that. I could accept one T potentially, but 2 in quick succession was very thin-skinned.
After that, you might as well get your moneys worth.

Yes...We could get rid of him and get S. Alford back or that coach from Neb. who was just fired. He came in and really saved that football program....Careful what you ask for..
Iowa can't shoot with the orange Wilson ball. Same story in the tourney flameout last year. Unless Nike pays us to use their ball, we should switch to what will be used in the tourney and get used to it.
Or you could get another Lute or Hayden.
Every team gets to select the ball they want to use on their home floor,.. there will always be games where you will be using a ball you don't particularly like.

You mean like what happened last year vs Richmond where they shot 20% from 3 and 36% overall?
