3 teams you would kick out of the B10?

I know we are talking sports, but academics still matter. And Nebraska is an embarrassment to the conference in that regard.

They should have been booted when they lost AAU status.
Nebby had some football history going for it but the University as a whole was never B1G material.

I thought I saw that on a sign when crossing the state line.
Unequivocally, with absolutely ZERO hesitation, my three are PennState, Rutgers, and MD.

I grew up in teh 1970s and I guess I am old school, but I like the vintage Big 10. I would also mandate a round robin schedule every year for a true champion. none of this luck of the draw strength of schedule B.S.

College footballshould be regional, and the above three teams are eastern. they should stay in their own conference, like the Big East or whatever it was or the ACC or whomever.
College football is about traditional rivalries, and I despise all newcomers after 1991 (except Nebraska. they are local, and bring a cashe name brand and I just like having them)

Second, Northwestern. They suck at all sports, the football field is like a high school stadium and one school from Illinois is plenty. I’ll keep Illinois over northwestern because they at least have a basketball team and bring some fiery fans.

Over the past 3 decades, NU FB has 3 B1G Championships and 2 B1GW titles.

And in the past decade, has 3 Tourney appearances.

That's hardly "suck"; there are a good no of other schools in the conference that have done less.

While Nebby lags behind in certain areas, the reason they lost AAU accreditation is because the med school (biggest source of research funding by far) was split off.

I'd agree to an extent. While I wouldn't call UNL a "bad" school academically by any means, they don't stand among their peers in the conference in that regard.

That said - I think academics are the last thing on the minds of the powers that be, for better or worse, in all of this conference re-alignment nonsense...

Rutgers and Maryland. For sure.

As for Nebraska, if they had a vote, they go back to the Big 12 in a heartbeat. Their vision of dominance in the Big 10 was actually a delusion. But it is nice to have a win on Iowa’s schedule every year. So, they might as well hang around. 😊
I mean. They do have a vote. The Big 12 would take anyone at this point.

No one is voluntarily leaving the B1G or SEC.

I think the real question isn't who would we kick out, it is how many schools would vote to kick us out...

Considering factors of all sports not just footbal, each Univ. puts great teams out there in some way or another. I vote we keep them all.

why would any BIG school vote to kick Iowa out? They are a top 20 revenue making program in the country. A winning football tradition, put women's basketball back on the map, hopefully Fran can pull something out soon.

Of course none of this happening. But - I
doubt Iowa would be on the chopping block. While not a true charter member of the Big 10 ( not even the “Big 10” then), Iowa was one of the first additions to the conference. They’d be given deference.

I’m not advocating for any school to be kicked out, but it sure seems hypocritical that there is a non-AAU member at this time. It was well know when they were invited to join that they were on thin ice with their AAU membership and would most likely lose it. If they can’t restructure enough over the next three years to regain their AAU membership, then I think they should be punished with a lesser share of the next tv/media contract.

Still a puzzler. Their dominance in football was also in the rear view mirror. Why?

They still have a rapid fanbase and at the time a 'national' brand that was respected.

I stand by my comment, they need to either be back in the AAU before the next TV/media contract is negotiated, or they should be penalized monetarily with a $maller $hare until they are. It's a stain on the conference to have them in it as a non-AAU member. Totally undermines the "elite research institutions" credibility that the University Presidents have worked hard to cultivate over the decades.

Hell, maybe even "replace" them during the next round of expansion and allow them to go back to the Big 12 where they belong. Of course, they might be dumb enough to join the SEC out of sheer hubris.

Saw this question posed on another Hawkeye website, so I figured I'd bring it here.

I would say aside from the incoming Pac 12 teams who really do not belong in the B10 already, but are here because of the bastardization of the sport...........who ELSE would you kick out of the B10 if you, the Iowa fan, had the power to do so????

IMHO, I would tell Ohio State, Michigan and Purdue to get the f*** out. Or more appropriately:

go away gtfo GIF

The rest can stay, because those remaining teams losing to us is just too much fun annually to pass up on.
Ped State Nebraska Rutgers and Maryland. If only 3 than it's an easy Ped State Rutgers Maryland
