30 turnovers

Guess what the recipe is for beating this Iowa team now...pressure the crap out of them and they fold like a cheap tent and turn the ball over like crazy

Besides not handling the pressure they don't have the ability to finish and make teams pay if they do beat it. It's just the half court offense.

I think you have to give Tennessee credit for being very athletic, very long, very deep and very aggressive, which their depth allows them to be. Also, they played like we were their most bitter rival, and that they hated our guts. I wouldn't be surprised if they win 20+ games, though I suspect they'll have some mid-season road games where that intensity isn't there.

21 of those turnovers were attributed to Iowa's veteran players. Addison scores lots of points but for crying out loud, secure the damn ball. Taylor had 2 TOs but it seemed she lost or fumbled the ball constantly when on the floor.

31 TOs against Tennessee is concerning, but 20(+) the previous 2 games are more so. The competition wasn't tough enough to justify it.

Now the games matter. Lucy is back but the TOs weren't on her. It's on the coach to find the combinations that work. 9 games into the season gears seem to not mesh. Upperclassmen leadership is missing. 20(+) turnovers per game will not work in the B1G.

One year Iowa men's team turned the ball over 30+ times and still won at Kansas, breaking their long consecutive home game winning streak, I believe. However, Iowa did have Kent McCausland shooting lights out from the 3, compared to Taylor McCabe last night.

Lucy certainly had a hand in quite a few turnovers.

The only way to learn how to handle this level of pressure is to play against it. I'm almost glad they lost this game, because losing is the greatest motivator out there. If they would have pulled this one out the lesson learned would be less valuable. I expect a bounce back performance vs ISU and a double digit win.

That's easier said than done. Yes it could be a recipe vs Iowa BUT you have to have the personnel to do it and the athletes to do it. Tennessee had I would call athletes that rotated every few minutes of the game to keep them fresh and it ended up showing the last 3 minutes of the game. Not every team will have that as that is their philosophy and teams are not going to completely change who they are just when they play Iowa. I look at it like this yes Iowa had 30 turnovers but still even with that had a chance and probably should have won against a pretty tough opponent as you cant simulate that in practice like you see on film..

If they could have figured out how to stop Copper late in the game, they could have won it.

I watched the game again last night, at least 15 of our turnovers came from normally routine passing in our have court offense with little TN pressure.

At 3:25 left in game Iowa was leading 67-66. The next 2 minutes Iowa turned the ball over 4 straight times, TN converts each time - leads 75-67. Game over.

It was deer in the head lights. That's why I attribute the loss to lack of veteran leadership. But it is an early season, though costly loss.

Like Hawked said, there may be a silver lining in this loss. You can win by losing if you learn from it.

Out-rebounded the Vols 48-33, but 30 turnovers is death to a team (compared to only 9 for Tennessee). They were sloppy with the ball down in Cancun, but got away with it against inferior opponents. I'm not a believer in losing a game to learn a lesson, but maybe they got comfortable. They need to fix their carelessness with the basketball right now.

I am transferring out of Iowa Women's fan Portal. They are missing 3 important elements of the game of basketball. Put the ball in the old peach basket - dribble the ball without losing control - pass the ball to YOUR TEAMMATES (NOT TO THE OTHER TEAM 😆)

Iowa State giving you some NIL money? Best of luck to you there.

I have forgiven the Iowa Women for losing to Tennessee. Lucy and the gang were superb beating Little Sister from the farm school.
