McNamara Remains the Starter Despite Turnovers, Lack of Production

KF is sticking with McNamara -- despite Brendan Sullivan's success in limited snaps and all of McNamara's issues to start the year.

STORY:
The thing that is really shocking to me is that Kirk seems to have no trouble replacing established running backs and receivers with new guys. He's never be shy about pulling an RB out of a game that commits a turnover.

But QB....

KF trolling Iowa fans...

At this point I hope Iowa gets their a$$ kicked from here on out.
If it takes a complete implosion to move the needle to change then so be it!
There I said it
Go root for Nebraska, Minnesota or Illinois then.... hater

Anyone who thinks Sullivan wouldn't be a major upgrade over old man McNamara doesn't know much about football.

Name ONE other team . . . FBS or FCS . . . that would start McNamara again this week after the way he's played so far. Yah, I can't think of a single one either.
you nailed it there...

Listen to any coach at any level. Coachspeak is universal, not copyrighted by Kirk.
Not true at all. Lots and lots of coaches actually speak the way they know everybody saw the game play out. Actually expressing disappointment.

Kirk is on another level with his “I thought our guys competed. They played hard.”
Most lame, tiresome shit ever.

I think Kirk back then leaned more heavily on his assistants, and he had great ones. He had something to prove. The team was fun and explosive, something he clearly isn’t. But also Kirk was way more animated back then too. Age does slow us down but Kirk was a hot head. Now he chews gum

Once he achieved the success he did and his assistants moved on…he dug in a lot more.

Now he’s surrounded by guys who are collecting a paycheck and don’t have any ambition for greater things. So Kirk has total control and we’ve got this product
That is great. Totally back that 100%.

I will be honest, I’m not sure I have been more apathetic towards an Iowa football game than I am this week. A buddy texted me last week after half time, he was shocked I had turned off the game. I don’t ever remember doing that outside of Nevada at 2 AM.

The whole program is stale at this point. And I have gotten to the point where any time we play a top 25 team, I can pretty much know it won’t be super competitive because the offense can’t do anything.

Why is anybody surprised. This is the same coach that stuck with Petras as long as he did. Deacon Hill forever. Even look back to Jake Christensen over Stanzi. Probably a game or two lost because they didn't go with Stanzi. This is the same coach that allowed James Vandenberg to take every single snap in a 4-8 season. I don't think Vandenberg should've been bench as that team was bad, but get you're other guys experience. The real issue for us should be Kirk's ability to identify QB talent.

If Cade struggles in the first half against Washington, but plays the entire game, and Iowa loses, you think it has been brutal up to now, just wait. I hope none of that happens. But I'm not counting on any of it not to. It's cliche, but this game is a pivot point for the Iowa season.

Not true at all. Most coaches use coachspeak... Hence the term.

1st half? I'd say 1st quarter. Washington has the offense to put it out of reach in a half.

I just laid some on the over knowing Cade will be QB1 because I have full confidence in Him turning the ball over and helping Washington look like the Warner led Rams

I’d rather lose out so Kirk can basically get pushed out. That’s where many of us are unfortunately..
Pushing out a winning coach is never a good idea. Ask Debbie. Kirk is no Pelini in temperment. Besides, Kirk is too close to catching Woody Hayes.
