Iowa has 16 kids committed for the '17 Class.

It appears that there is a large focus on locking up these 4 remaining 4 star guys:

1. Oliver Martin
2. Russ Yeast
3. Damion Daniels
4. Andrew Van Ginkel

Would love to hear Blair's latest view on where these 4 guys end up.

If the Hawks get all 4, they should finish with a top 15 class for the 2017 year.

1. Of those four you listed, only Van Ginkel is currently rated a 4 star.
2. Did you even bother looking at past team rankings? Even if those guys were four stars that would put Iowa with 7 fours stars, 0 five stars and a bunch of mid to low three stars. That's a top 20-30 class. Not a top 15 class. For example, Michigan State finished with 11 four stars and 7 three stars and was the 18th ranked class last year.

Kyle, I believe all those players are rated as 4 stars by at least one service.

Kyle - As the previous reply indicated, all 4 of these guys have a 4 star rating from at least 1 major recruiting site (specifically 247).

Following his impressive showing in the summer camp circuit, Oliver Martin was rated as highly as the 10th best overall WR and #67 OVERALL recruit in the entire 2017 class by 247.

Russ Yeast picked up an Alabama offer late in the summer and not surprisingly got bumped up to a 4 star recruit and the #41 overall rated Corner in the 2017 class.

Damion Daniels has big offers including LSU and Nebraska and has been ranked as a 4 star recruit for the majority of the past year.

2. Yes I did look at past team rankings and they don't mean squat for this year. Depending on how AJ Epenesa's season goes, there is a good chance he might actually wind up as a 5 start recruit (top 30 overall in the Country). In addition, Eno Benjamin, Chevin Calloway, Oliver Martin and Russ Yeast will all end up in the top 400 overall recruits in the Country. Iowa currently has the #22 ranked class in the country with our existing 16 total commitments, so adding 4 more potential 4 star recruits to that mix would definitely put the '17 class among the top 20 and most likely in the top 15 - seems like it's you who needs to bother to look into things a little more.

They are four stars by atleast one ranking site, also one site has AJ a 5 star. And current recruits 3 are in all sites as 4 or 5 star and 2 are 4 stars in one recruiting service.

Also I think we have the best chance with Daniels and Van Ginkel, Martin grew up a hawk fan but do not like what I've been hearing lately and Yeast has some major offers he would be like pulling a Calloway.

I'd be happy with landing 2/4, landing all 4 would be hitting the jackpot. There's always hope though!

Seeing how we are on RIVALS it makes sense to use RIVALS rankings don't ya think? Saying last years team rankings don't mean squat is just plain wrong and dumb. The same formula is going to be used and there is no better way to predict how a class will end up in the rankings. You can continue to put up the blinders and at the end of the cycle you can get upset at Rivals for screwing Iowa over because of your unrealistic expectations.

Let's say your dream scenario comes true and AJ gets bumped to a 5 and those other guys get bumped up to 4. Stanford had a five and 6 four stars last year and ended up 19th... Btw, AJ is already a 6.0, getting a bump to 6.1 is a whole 15 more points plus a few more for more for moving up the rivals 100.

You throw out Iowas current ranking like that actually means something when thats the real one that doesn't mean jack. Believe it or not other teams are going to add more commits too. Let's say Iowa adds another 500 points (5.8s are worth 105 plus 80 more points for miscellaneous bumps) to their 1360 total right now, which would be awesome. That's 1860 points and good enough for the 8th spot in the current rankings. The last four years 1860 points would finish 23, 23, 23 and 21. Sorry about the truth bomb in your face.

Not saying this class is any worse or better because of the final rankings. Just trying to make people see things clearly. You are really only setting yourself and others up for disappointment.

The surge in a kid's ranking in the summer has - IMHO - a lot more to do with camp performances than who offered. If you think about it, maybe that's why Alabama offered.
