40 offensive points. 492 yards of offense. What should I complain about?

I’ve had nothing but positive things to say about the game today. I think what I said is a very reasonable thought.
I had to go out right when you were breaking out, 1st half under a new coordinator and you looked it. 500 yards is hard to argue with. Some of that might by depth between the divisions, but still that's solid.
Yeah, we beat an inferior opponent the way we should have. A year ago….we would have won by a single score lol.
IDK, I'll take your word for it. Kirk has put up numbers before though.... Ohio St, USC games come to mind
True but it was already better than what BF was producing the past couple of years.
I'm sure there will still be some sputtering but I felt it was a positive first game.

Andersen was out. So was Kaleb Johnson and Jazz Patterson the first half. Wanna see spread with Brown, Andersen, Wetjen, the freshman, and Lachey.
Add in, poor start to the game on offense. Wanna see them play with tempo with all the skill position players that they can put out on the edge….Jazz, KJ, and Washington Jr to go with the players listed above. I think Iowa can put pressure of defenses with all these players but they have to play with tempo.
I don’t think we’ll know what we have until mid October. Iowa State won’t tell us much imo.
Vander Zee is their BEST receiver. The best WR Iowa has had in a long, long, long time. But I'm just judging by performance, not reputation.

Iowa State is usually solid defensively. I have no idea how they are this year.
Not to sound like a broken record, but it’s all about the OL elevating their game. If Iowa could run the football and chew up clock, our defense becomes even more potent
I guess my position is, whether we win or lose that game doesn’t necessarily reflect on how the season will go. We could lose and still have a special season. It’s a fvcking wildcard game.
Buie dropped a pass in the second half, not a great ball but it was catchable.

I don’t disagree. I’m just saying the Iowa State game will be a much more accurate barometer of where the offense is at than Illinois State.
It’s always difficult to predict the actual outcome of the Iowa State/Iowa game, but that’s not really the point. If Iowa puts up like 10 points of offense, has under 200 yards for the game, etc. then it’s pretty obvious the Illinois State game was an aberration.
In other words, Iowa needs to build on their second half performance and get the offense going against Iowa State. I’m not expecting 500 yards, but it has to be better than the offensive performance the last two seasons against Iowa State.
He had a hellova first game! If he can keep that up he’ll be in the record books.

Judging on the first half & ND controlling the ball, I think Iowa can run all over them.... but then again, that's why we play the games... ya just never know.
This. I kept saying the offense looked so stiff and uptight to start and they just needed to relax and loosen up a bit. I think this was a product of feeling the pressure to perform this year.

Put the 2nd teamers in earlier. Since we are a developmental program we need backups getting reps whenever possible

The first half was liquid shit. Finally looked like a real offense in the second half.
Cade needs the reps with the first team.

I won't even complain about the first half. First game of the season often starts a little rocky, plus with a new OC. Cade looks healthy. Defense is solid as usual.
