I know, but wasn’t Weiskamp on it last year after only playing 1 game? Just thought Patrick would of made it.
PMac had 14 points in the loss. JW had 29 points and 11 rebounds in their loss. Could of been throwing him a bone for even being there, too.

I would suggest it means SOMETHING. It seems like it would be better to have kids who are recognized than not. But that's probably just me.

Agreed. I think CF was the best “team” I saw. Better than Oskaloosa.
I was impressed Norwalk did as well as they did.
Osky has a front line of 7ft. 6’10 with one of the a power five kid and the other MVC.
You would think they would dominate 3A by just showing up.
I was disappointed in the way McCaffery played in their loss to Senior. Rarely went inside at 6-8. Spent most of game dribbling and popping three attempts. The transfer from Regina, 6-9 Evan Brauns, actually played and looked better (in this one game). Much more of an inside force than Patrick was.
Slight of build. He was good at, what I would call, half penetrating and doing little 8 foot floaters. Didn’t actually go all the way to rim but was able to get by initial defender.
I would rather have more raw quickness from a DI point guard. Missouri Valley off guard or point guard rotation wouldn’t surprise me.
Okay I didn’t get to see the 3A game. 4A game was good and I thought the kid going to Iowa to play football was a beast! He looks more ready to play Div 1 basketball than Patrick does.
Haha exactly. Isn’t there another thread bemoaning how Fran goes after too many Iowa players and should be more like ISU and recruiting out-of-state?
People are just mad at Fran right now so it’s pointlesd to try and have objective conversations
Look at his last few recruiting classes and you see him getting both instate and out of state talent. I’m pretty sure 95% of Hawkeye fans just want to see Fran get a true PG. he seems to recruit guards and thinks that is good enough. Look at JBO, CJ, Dailey, Moss, Williams, etc.. If he gets a legit PG who can handle the ball I think he has the shooters/Big men to have a good team.
After Conner failed to impress at state people blamed the ic coaching staff. I felt a legit d1 player should shine in the moment. I feel the same about Oat. I k ow his ranking and AAU accolades. Again I don't believe the hype.
Foster and Henry are great looking prospects. If Bowen Born was 6’3 or so he’d certainly be.
Really impressed with Henry surprised he is not a P5 signee. Maybe UNI is his dream school. All the best to him.
Xavier Foster is not that good! They almost lost to Winterset that is 6ft or shorter and he was guarded by a 5’11” guard that was physical with him and got in his head. He is a head case, in my opinion not a great player and definitely not a top 50 player. Cole Henry is a better player in my opinion UNI got a good one with him. Not to mention his dad Lavar Ball x2 pimping his son out to coaches.

I was more impressed with Brauns than PMac in the games I watched. The kid is sneaky athletic. He looks like some dude that is just going to take up space but he has pretty good springs, strong with the ball and pretty nimble in the paint. Assume he is getting interest from Fran.
The general consensus is that Patrick is over rated recruit. Lot of people I’ve talked to and coaches who have gone against him said he’s not that good. Now maybe it’s cause his team wasn’t that good. But look Weiskamp took a team of nobodies to the state tournament. Patrick had help and still wasn’t good enough to win it.
Let’s be clear, Patrick is NOT Wieskamp and never will be. He will not be that good. This team should be Wieskamp’s team going forward and if Fran was smart, at the end of the year he would tell his team that Wieskamp is the big dog and people better understand.
That being said, I think Patrick will be a good player in a Swiss Army knife sort of way over the years. He’s not going to be a huge scorer over the years and I think people need to understand that early. But I think he will be very valuable on defense and especially in the press and he is a very capable ball handler and passer for a Forward.
He cannot shoot. Stop over valuing him. If he was a power 5 kid, he’d be going there. He’s very limited offensively.
