Why? It’s good enough to host the Waterloo, Bucks and multiple high school games every year, but it’s not good enough for postseason? It’s a much better facility than Carrol.
I suspect the Bucks are at home during the state tournament.

Not to mention, if Waterloo is acceptable, no reason Sioux City shouldn't be acceptable. The bias against Iowa's West Coast is so strange.I suspect the Bucks are at home during the state tournament.
I think it’s fair to give the west some tournament games. It doesn’t make sense to put the big class as the majority of the teams are from the old MVC/MAC and the Metro. Send the smaller classes that will have some teams from that side of the state. Not to mention, if Waterloo is acceptable, no reason Sioux City shouldn't be acceptable. It isn’t bias, it’s logistics. It’s about facilities for the players and hotels and restaurants. It’s about maybe 2 teams within 75 miles playing there versus the other teams driving 3-5 hours there. Not to mention, if Waterloo is acceptable, no reason Sioux City shouldn't be acceptable. You certainly make my point on the bias. You are suggesting Iowa's fourth largest city can't handle a state baseball tournament? Talk about not knowing what you're talking about! It isn’t bias, it’s logistics. It’s about facilities for the players and hotels and restaurants. It should be somewhat centrally located at a place with the proper amenities. If Sioux City was a great choice it would have been in the rotation already.
Re: facilities, there are 4 major high schools in Sioux City, in case you aren't aware. There are also a few colleges with baseball programs. Not to mention the field being used for the tournament. Facilities are not even close to a problem. There are no shortage of restaurants throughout town. There are chain hotels everywhere, and more upscale if you'd like. You can even go play some craps at the Hard Rock.It isn’t bias, it’s logistics. It’s about facilities for the players and hotels and restaurants. And, yet, it wasn’t in the rotation.Re: facilities, there are 4 major high schools in Sioux City, in case you aren't aware. There are also a few colleges with baseball programs. Correct, it makes sense to typically have the tournaments near the center of the State, but it also makes plenty of sense to move things around from time-to-time as well (particularly when the typical parks are not available). And, yet, it wasn’t in the rotation.
Maybe we can all meet up and have beers and maidrites at that one place you guys are always crowing about.
Been to the Miles Inn. It was the most interesting part of our day, and overnight stop, in Sioux City.Correct, it makes sense to typically have the tournaments near the center of the State, but it also makes plenty of sense to move things around from time-to-time as well (particularly when the typical parks are not available).
And Miles Inn with the charlie boys/maidrites is an institution, but just a hole in the wall. Depends what you're in to. Maybe just give Sioux City a chance...
Damn, now THAT would make for a great state tournament venue. Hadn't thought of that. Nothing says Iowa baseball like Field of Dreams, even if the stadium has been modernized it's still connected enough to be super cool. Figure it out ihsaa!Wish the Field of Dreams pro stadium was an option but I think MLB owns it.
Speaking of which, are they ever gonna do anything with that park or is it just gonna sit there with no events?
You certainly make my point on the bias. You are suggesting Iowa's fourth largest city can't handle a state baseball tournament? Talk about not knowing what you're talking about!
In any case, this is basically a one year bone thrown to Sioux City due to logistics issues with similarly-sized parks around the State, and it will be fantastic. The field is great (minor league quality) and will have a big-time feel you want at a state tournament.
Completely understand. You are not alone in your ignorance/naivete regarding the end of the world/the West Coast of Iowa. The bias for me is just a result of ignorance. I lived my first 25 years in Iowa and have never been to Sioux City. Never had a reason to. I also didn't realize it's the fourth largest city.
