I was there for the 1928 season. Iowa dominated the season opener against Monmouth College and then went 3-0 in a laugher against Ripon (61-6) two weeks later. Herbert Hoover was there just a couple weeks before being elected President of the United States. When Iowa shutout South Dakota to go 5-0 the town partied like mad even though alcohol was strictly prohibited. Good times!
Maybe he figured that Iowa ended up winning a little over 60% of their remaining games after the 5-0 start so maybe you could figure 5-3 the rest of the year.
