Didn't see this October 4th Gazette article posted here yet. Sportswriter Jeremiah Davis has 5 predictions for Iowa BB this year.
http://www.thegazette.com/subject/s...things-predicting-iowa-hoops-2017-18-20171004

Essentially, here they are:
1) Tyler Cook 1st team all B1G
2) Iowa top 5 B1G finish
3) Nunge and Garza both on all B1G frosh team
4) Starters=
Garza, Cook, Baer, Moss, JB
with Nunge 6th man
5) Iowa wins an NCAA tourney game

He has interesting reasonings. I think all are possible, but some are more optimistic than others.
Opinions?

So somebody else sees my vision of Baer and Nunge at the wings sometimes. :)

Tad optimistic I think. Nothing's out of the realm of possibility. I hope people are a bit patient with Garza. Generally takes big men some time to adjust, particularly to defense.

To get to the Sweet 16, you've got to be good at the right time.

In the past, we've been damn good at points during the season. Top 10 good.

We've got to break down that wall of short B1G Tournament runs and sputtering finishes. Last year, we finished strong in the league, only to soil the bed in the tourney. Could've pushed us into the dance.

The League is loaded, IMO, and if we're one of the better teams, the rest will follow.

The Big Ten Tourney is something we need to start having success in. As to sputtering finishes...we've won more games the second half of the Big Ten season than we have the first. One year with major meltdown, and another which wasn't so great, have left the impression we don't finish well. But we do...right up to that dang B1G Tournament.

Definitely need improvement in Big Ten Tournament play. Hawks have lost to 10,11,12, and 13 seeds the last 4 years. This may never be replicated. Hopefully Hawks don't play 9 or 14 seed first.

I agree.....theoretically this depth should help with those issues....limiting fatigue, playing players that are hot more minutes, and playing those who are in a slump less minutes.

Shouldn't you be busy watching a few more oars break on the boat? I mean what kind of JR high team puts" Row The Boat" on their helmets? I'll bet thats the goophs new fight song. Row Row Row your boat, gently down the stream, merrliy merrily merrily, life is but a dream! Well there's some ELITE dreamers up there anyway! LOL!!!!

1) Tyler Cook 1st team all B1G -- 2d team most likely.

2) Iowa top 5 B1G finish -- Very likely.

3) Nunge and Garza both on all B1G frosh team -- both would be surprising.

4) Starters=
Garza, Cook, Baer, Moss, JB
with Nunge 6th man -- No opinion because it doesn't matter who starts.

5) Iowa wins an NCAA tourney game -- Very likely.

This is going to be a fun year.
