Conference championships? National championships? Relevant beyond the borders of Iowa? Butt of jokes on national broadcasts? Weakest schedule of the lot? Numbers can lie...
Awe you get your feelin's hurt when some talkin head makes fun of us??????????????????

We ain't getting the 4 and 5 stars those other teams are loaded with either.

Consistently good, just never great. Worse epitaphs have been written.....
He’s flirted with greatness. Could even argue the run from 2002-2004 was great. And some great years in between like 09 and 15. Even winning one of the BIG champ games could have been considered great. But hasn’t really flirted with elite and agree, the good overall but not great overall is a good description.

The elite company on that very short list makes us relevant beyond our borders. Did you examine the schedule of the other four teams over the last nine years?

God, I wish you would stop with all your negative Hawkeye posts. It is obvious you dislike Kirk but give it a rest. That is pretty elite company the Hawks are in.

Kirk has done more with so much less. Recruiting base and geography is a big negative. Our NIL is 8-10 times less. Yet Hawks win their share.

Hats off to Kirk, his staff and all those young men wearing black and gold.

KF is a very good head coach. You can tell there is very good organization and attention to detail in the program. The attention to detail etc leads to winning close games, low amounts of penalties and turnovers, especially the stupid stuff.

He has longevity on his side for total wins but losses also, but I wouldn't say he is a great coach because some of his in-game decision making, some of his very conservative nature which allows lesser teams to hang around and sometimes beat a better hawk team, and just some lackluster offensive teams and philosophy.

The really great coaches like Hayes, Parseghian, McKay, Saban, Bud Wilkinson have total teams that just hammer opponents and their win-loss percentages are much better than Kirk's.

So this is a great run for a team like Iowa.

All true. BUT what we've narrowed down here is the guys who coached at OSU, USC, Bama, and Oklahoma. See a trend here? I've said this before. Day's winning % at OSU is probably better then all those guys. IS he a great coach?
